Activities at Woodland View Care Home

Activities at Woodland View

Woodland View is passionately committed to providing residents with a varied choice of entertainment, social, health and well being, craft and relaxation based activities.

Activities will all be meaningful and based on the likes of residents and will continue to evolve depending on our residents. The activities provided will also include involvement from other local community based organisations and are open to all residents, family and friends of residents. Our activities will be facilitated by staff from all departments as well as invited guests. Families are also enthusiastically encouraged to play a part in activities when possible.

There will always be at least one person at every activity who has been DBS checked to ensure the safeguarding of our residents. The dignity of our residents and our respect for them is at the centre of everything we do, each and every day.

We are always reviewing and changing our schedule of activities to be a centre of excellence and actively invite feedback and suggestions for new and meaningful activities and ideas.

Petra Hardman

Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Petra and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Woodland View. I love seeing the difference that activities can make to each individual, and finding out what interests they have and ensure I incorporate that into our activities here.

I love music and drama coming from a musical background as a singer all over the country, music is important to me and I feel it makes such a difference to everyone, it evokes memories, and creates happiness. I also love to boost residents self esteem by creating pampering sessions and having one to one time to relax and reminisce.

Celebrating 5 Years

Woodland View held a themed afternoon to celebrate 5 years of serving the local community.

Staff and residents commemorated this special occasion with a buffet, cake and refreshments while enjoying classical music.

Woodland View has built up excellent reputations within its local communities. The home regularly holds events and activities for its residents and keeps in touch with surrounding neighbours.

It is important to recognise the hard work of our staff here at Woodland View. For the past 5 years, we have provided a caring home for our residents, as well as the best possible environment for our staff. This day not only enabled us to celebrate their hard work, but it's also an opportunity to thank the residents, their relatives and friends who have made Woodland View such a loving home.

Festival of Lights

Residents and staff at Woodland View celebrated Diwali - the Festival of Lights. We tried a range of Indian food and learned about Indian traditions during this celebration.

Children in Need

Residents and staff members at Woodland View took part in the BBC Children in Need initiative by wearing pyjamas all day at the home.

Everyone had a wonderful day and enjoyed decorating cupcakes while listening to vintage children songs.

Lest We Forget

Residents and staff members at Woodland View worked together to create a Remembrance Day display. Everyone took part in decorating the home for the day and, on 11th November, they had a service with two minutes of silence to pay tribute to the members of the armed forces who have died in line of their duty.

Our Activities Coordinator was wearing a handmade poppies dress in recognition of this occasion.

The day continued with a virtual war-time concert and homemade cakes with a cup of tea.

World Food Day

Residents and staff at Woodland View celebrated World Food Day on 15th October. All had a tester session with more than 20 different types of food from all over the world. Residents enjoyed a tasty social afternoon!
