Activities at Woodland View Care Home

Activities at Woodland View

Woodland View is passionately committed to providing residents with a varied choice of entertainment, social, health and well being, craft and relaxation based activities.

Activities will all be meaningful and based on the likes of residents and will continue to evolve depending on our residents. The activities provided will also include involvement from other local community based organisations and are open to all residents, family and friends of residents. Our activities will be facilitated by staff from all departments as well as invited guests. Families are also enthusiastically encouraged to play a part in activities when possible.

There will always be at least one person at every activity who has been DBS checked to ensure the safeguarding of our residents. The dignity of our residents and our respect for them is at the centre of everything we do, each and every day.

We are always reviewing and changing our schedule of activities to be a centre of excellence and actively invite feedback and suggestions for new and meaningful activities and ideas.

Petra Hardman

Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Petra and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Woodland View. I love seeing the difference that activities can make to each individual, and finding out what interests they have and ensure I incorporate that into our activities here.

I love music and drama coming from a musical background as a singer all over the country, music is important to me and I feel it makes such a difference to everyone, it evokes memories, and creates happiness. I also love to boost residents self esteem by creating pampering sessions and having one to one time to relax and reminisce.

St Patrick's Day

Staff, residents and relatives at Woodland View had high spirits for St Patrick's Day. We had fun solving St. Patrick's-themed crosswords and quizzes and learning interesting facts about Ireland. We decorated the home with Irish festivities, tasted some traditional Irish dishes and played Irish music!

95th Birthday Celebrations

Maureen, a resident at Woodland View, celebrated her 95th birthday in style.

Maureen received lovely presents, flowers, early morning surprises from her family members and an ocean of birthday cards. Staff members at the Home prepared the birthday decorations to make this day more special for Maureen.

It was a very wonderful day for everyone involved. Happy birthday, Maureen!

Indian Day

We tried a range of Indian food and learned about Indian traditions during this celebration. General Manager, Anu Jose, with an enthusiastic helper Edi, did a presentation on how to wear a traditional Indian Sari. Everyone had a fabulous day!

Love is in the Air

Residents and staff members at Woodland View have celebrated Valentine's Day in style. We all created a Valentine's display. The Head Chef made chocolate strawberries for everyone to enjoy. On the day, we had special photoshoot sessions and created an emotional video for residents' relatives and friends.

Pancake Day

The staff and residents at Woodland View have been flipping and turning pancakes all morning in preparation for their annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race.

Woodland View has marked this year’s Pancake Day with pancake flipping competition and, of course, lots of pancakes! Residents and staff members at the home flipped more than 100 pancakes, serving them up with sweet and savoury fillings for all the eager staff and residents.

Our New Visiting Pod

Residents are overjoyed at Woodland View, as the new visiting suite implemented by Barchester means that, not only can residents continue to spend time with their loved ones over the winter months, but also special celebrations are back on the agenda.

Pictured here is Norman, who was celebrating his birthday on Christmas Day, and was so happy to be surprised by his daughter. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating safely together!

The visiting suite has been a brilliant addition to the home. It is wonderful to be able to give our residents the chance to spend special celebrations with friends and family once again. They have so missed being able to get together in the home, so this is a brilliant opportunity.

The visiting suite has been designed with both comfort and safety in mind. The room is similar to a living room, with comfortable furnishings and heating to create a welcoming and warm environment for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones in the upcoming months. The room has an intercom system fitted so residents can clearly communicate and engage in conversation, whilst being able to see their friends and family or enjoy live entertainment through a Perspex glass divider fitted for safety.
