Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Lead Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Barchester in Bloom 2017

A huge congratulations to Head of Activies, Lynn, for her work in helping our home be named as a divisional winner in the 'Most Innovative Garden' category at the 2017 Barchester in Bloom competition – she created the wonderful courtyard for residents and guests to enjoy.

Barchester in Bloom celebrates the company's wonderful gardens and those who work so hard to create them. This category looks at how homes have best utilised their outside space.

Visit from Bella and Katy-Ann

Bella is a local therapy greyhound who comes and visits Wimborne regularly with her owner, Katy-Ann. Bella is trained to provide affection and comfort for residents at Wimboorne and other local hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, disaster areas and to people with mental disorders, such as anxiety and autism. Residents really enjoy spending time with Bella and are always excited for her next visit.

Summer Fun

We had a great afternoon of fun and laughter in the gorgeous sunny weather; there were ball games on the patio, Lynn was serving refreshing drinks and residents were dipping their feet into the paddling pool. Resident, Eleanor, commented on how blissful it was. The afternoon really was enjoyed by all.

Afternoon Tea

We held an afternoon tea party for the local community and residents from the assisted living accommodation apartments on Hayling Island. All were welcome to come and visit our lovely home, whilst enjoying afternoon tea with delicious cakes and drinks provided.
