Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Lead Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Chichester Canal Boat Trip

Lynn, Kerry and members of the committee group, organised a boat ride on the Chichester Canal. We cruised along the beautiful sights of Chichester, including the Chichester Cathedral, which we saw in the distance. Once the boat came to a stop, everybody had a relaxing lunch whilst enjoying the last of the sunshine and warm weather.

Jukebox Jive

Tickled Pink Productions came to Wimborne and presented the Jukebox Jive, a light-hearted, romantic comedy story linking the hits together with beautiful costumes and high-energy dance routines.

The colourful show was packed with favourite numbers from the '50s and the '60s, including song from Elvis, The Beatles, Beach Boys and many more.

The show was thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Able Classes with Rhonda

Able Classes with Rhonda

Rhonda from Able Classes comes and visits residents regularly to provide one hour classes, including a mix of general knowledge quizzes, reminiscence sessions, games and simple physical exercise routines. The aim is to stimulate both the brain and the body in a relaxing, enjoyable and entertaining atmosphere. Residents are always looking forward to Rhonda’s next visit.

Birthday Celebrations

Birthday Celebrations

August was a busy month, with lots of residents celebrating their birthdays, including Lavinia, who recently enjoyed her 90th here at Wimborne. Lavinia spent the afternoon sitting outside enjoying the rest of the sunny weather, opening presents and eating birthday cake with her lovely daughter and staff members.

Rod & Friends

The local church social group, Rod & Friends, comes to Wimborne once a month to meet with residents and others from the local community. Within the group, residents get the chance to sing hymns and read prayers over a cup of coffee and a chat.

Employees of the Month - August

Employees of the Month - August

Staff at Wimborne were delighted when all of them were named as 'Employees of the Month' for going above and beyond their job roles and working extremely hard.

All staff were congratulated by General Manager, Sarah Hayman, for the achievement and were presented with a bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate each as a special thank you.
