Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Swindon Designer Outlet

The resident of White Lodge went out in a minibus ride to the Swindon Designer Outlet. We had a lot of fun and captured some beautiful moments along with some shopping. The residents also bought Christmas presents for their families and friends. After the shopping we stopped for a coffee and roamed around the Christmas market!

Gingerbread House Day

The residents and the staff celebrated gingerbread house day at White Lodge. We made 2 houses today, one in the Memory lane community and the other in the activity room. We had a lot of fun making the houses, it was quite hard to resist ourselves from eating the parts while building the house. And looking at the end result we are proud of ourselves! The residents decided to keep the houses on the lounge as a decoration as they look fabulous!

Christmas concert in Royal Wotton Bassett

We received the invitation from Age Wiltshire UK to attend their Christmas concert in Royal Wotton Bassett and decided to attend with few of our residents. Our activity team along with 5 of the residents went to attend Christmas concert by North Swindon band, organised by celebrating age Wiltshire on 5th Dec 2023. One of our residents Ruth found her neighbour on the crowd! Another resident, Kathie found her friend and her milk lady! Kathie went around the whole hall meeting people and introducing herself as she used to work at RWB memorial hall and come to clean the hall every Sunday morning. She was very excited to be back on her known place and was exploring the hall by walking all around. It was an amazing afternoon, singing all the Christmas songs together. While coming back from the concert, Kathie asked the team if we can bring her back again. The team promised her to bring her back for the next event.

Elf Day

We celebrated elf day at white lodge when li'l elves from Longleaz primary school visited us.

We prepared a fun game for the children involving the residents. We hide badges saying "Santa's little helper" in residents room and the activity team helped the children through the corridor to find the badges. They asked a magic question "do you have anything for me please?" And the residents handed over the badge to the little helper. Santa's little helpers sang jingle Bell as well for the residents. How lovely is that?!

After the badge hunting, we sat down in the lounge and enjoyed cup cupcakes and mince pieces together and sang some all-time Christmas songs.
