Activities at White Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Shayla Sharmeen
Hi my name is Shayla and I'm the activities coordinator here at White Lodge.
Prior to taking the position, I joined White Lodge as care assistant in 2022 and loved every minute of my role. My passion is very much in supporting the day to day lives of the people we care for, it is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining White Lodge that will make for an enriched activities program to be developed, one that keeps them at the heart of the local community. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at White Lodge Care Home

Nutrition and Hydration Week
The residents at White Lodge are celebrating Nutrition and Hydration Week with lots of yummy, wholesome food, thirst quenching beverages and some interesting activities along the way.
Today the residents got together in the lounge and enjoyed a blind folded fruit tasting session which was definitely a lot of fun!
Nutrition and Hydration Week aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.

Pet Therapy at its Best
We had a visit from our pet as therapy dog “Ciren” and not only the residents but the staff also have spent some quality time with her…!
The benefits of Animal Assisted Therapies have been extensively studied and results range from improvement in general health and wellbeing, increased confidence levels, improved and controlled movement to improved communication skills.

Monthly Church Service
Thanks to David and Liz for visiting us to provide their enriching church service.
It’s great to see the residents connecting and hosting regular religious services in the home gives the residents something to look forward to. It helps them form a routine which may minimise stress and help them feel calm and in control.

Ball Games in the Sun
The residents at White Lodge took the advantage of the weather and went out in the garden to play ball games which definitely took them back down memory lane!

Making New Local Connections
The residents at White Lodge went out in the community to celebrate Nutrition and Hydration week!
With the help of the team, the residents made some nutrition and hydration packs and took them along to the Ashton Keynes coffee morning where the Ashton Keynes WI and other members of the community meet to have coffee, cake and a good old natter together.
One of our residents is from Ashton Keynes and loved reminicising with the attending ladies about a Christmas fete she once attended in the village hall, and how her grand children go to the local primary school. It was such a lovely morning for her to be able to walk down memory lane in such a way.
It was also it was a pleasure to meet so many lovely members community. Our residents would definitely like to go again!

St Patrick's Day Celebrations
Residents and staff at White Lodge celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks and everyone dressed in green to mark the day.
Staff and residents at the home marked the day by making shamrock decorations, learning some Irish words and phrases. We enjoyed a live performance from local Irish dancers and listening to Irish music. Head chef Richard prepared a fantastic buffet and all washed down with Guinness or an Irish whiskey.
