Activities at White Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Shayla Sharmeen
Hi my name is Shayla and I'm the activities coordinator here at White Lodge.
Prior to taking the position, I joined White Lodge as care assistant in 2022 and loved every minute of my role. My passion is very much in supporting the day to day lives of the people we care for, it is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining White Lodge that will make for an enriched activities program to be developed, one that keeps them at the heart of the local community. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at White Lodge Care Home

Cheers & beers!
This afternoon the residents and staff of white lodge care home celebrated National Beer Day with beer tasting event. Our hospitality team brought a range of brewtiful British ales for residents to sample and they enjoyed a beer tasting in the lounge learning about history of beer as well as taking part in quiz.
One of the residents JS said " What a selection of choices! My husband used to love beer and I will drink on his behalf." In a break with tradition two ladies decided to swap their beers for pints of Piña colada's ... and why not!

Continuing our Community Links
The residents at White Lodge went out on a mini bus trip yesterday to Ashton Keynes. It was lovely to introduce a few more of our residents to the Ashton Keynes Village Hall coffee morning. The weather was lovely to be out and about!

Live Music and Dancing Feet
White Lodge residents love nothing more than a live musical performance. The activities team book a variety of entertainers and singers, having firm favorites return as well as trying out some new acts.
This recent concert by Justin Daish Music brought lots of toe tapping, dancing and singing along by us all, as the song goes!

Happy Birthday 'Alan'
Please join us in wishing resident Alan a very happy 82nd birthday today!
Alan loves to sing and adores all types of music so today we had the absolute pleasure of bringing Mini Concerts to him courtesy of the sensational solo singer Emily who performed all his favourites including; Elvis and Abba and many other classics from the 50’s and 60’s.
Joined by his wonderful wife, daughter and grandchildren Alan was surrounded by love and his smile beamed throughout the day.
To top the surprise chef baked and decorated him a scrumptious Chocolate Cake decorated with fresh fruit and cream to share with all the family.
Happy birthday Alan from everyone at White Lodge.

Fun in the sun!
After some practice, residents joined in with a friendly garden game. Starting with the basic rules, residents played the games in turns in the home’s beautifully manicured gardens. The game was made accessible for all.
One of the residents added, “What a wonderful activity this was. I love getting the chance to learn something new and I had so much fun participating in a new sport, and I loved it too.”

Family Togetherness for Mothering Sunday
We celebrated Mother's Day with an elegant afternoon tea party. The special event brought together residents and their loved ones around beautifully decorated tables, where they enjoyed a selection of delectable treats crafted by the home's skilled culinary and hospitality team.
To enhance the atmosphere, White Lodge arranged for singer-songwriter D'Artagnan Arbuah to perform, delighting attendees with a repertoire of heartfelt love songs and uplifting melodies.
The care home was transformed for the occasion with fresh floral arrangements and cheerful bunting, creating a warm environment where everyone could celebrate and honour mothers past and present.
"It was truly a wonderful day," said General Manager Ramona Gherendi. "Seeing our residents enjoying quality time with their families over a delicious afternoon tea prepared by our talented chefs was incredibly heart-warming. These moments of connection are what make our community so special."
