Activities at Westvale House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Hi, I'm Joanne and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator at Westvale House! I joined the team in December 2023 and absolutely love my role. Getting to spend time with our residents every day and getting to know each of them more and more, is such a privilege.
I get to create and tailor our activities to the preferences of each individual resident, making sure they're all doing things they'll absolutely love, and that brings me and the rest of the team so much joy. Making each of their days special is what I believe my job is all about.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Westvale House Care Home
Book Club
Our first book club was a success. Our residents have had a great time talking about different books they have read and what we gave them out of 10.
What are your favourite books? And what would u give them out of 10? Also we talked about joining our local library and have a list of books we all want to read as a group.
A splash of colour
Our residents have fully enjoyed making their calendars today. Deciding which colours go with each season and choosing which season we like the most, was interesting and we can honestly say summer was the winner!
Whilst enjoying our popular craft groups we take the opportunity to reminisce and get to know each other. Which is your favourite season and why?
Letter writing
Our residents have been very busy this morning writing letters to their families and friends and posting them in our very own Westvale post box!
A creative afternoon
Our residents have had fun making pompom's this afternoon while relaxing in our main lounge. Chit chat, crafts and cup of tea afternoon. This gives our residents chance to catch up with each other also learn a new craft or revisit a craft from childhood.
Community gift
We would like to say a huge thank you to The Ladies from Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's group. https://www.facebook.com/rubinaloveforallhatredfornone for their special Christmas pamper hamper delivery for our resident's. We are so grateful for such a kind gesture.
Christmas Jumper Day
We are helping to make the world a better place by wearing a festival jumpers today in aid of Save the Children’s annual fundraising event, Christmas Jumper Day.
Our residents have been encouraged to borrow or decorate their own special Christmas jumpers and raise awareness for children in need all around the world.
Some of our residents have been very creative and decorated their own glitzy knitwear with tinsel, stars, baubles and snowflakes.
It was a wonderful day, enjoyed by all.
