Activities at Waterside Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Today was very special as we celebrated the warmth and love of all the mothers, especially the ones that are so dear to us and Waterside Court.

We had a wonderful afternoon hosting a cream tea with champagne and delicious cakes. Every mother present felt very loved and spoilt.

Thank you so much to our amazing residents, families and friends who made this day so special. We appreciate you!

Rugby Six Nations Finals

Today at Waterside Court, we were all captivated by the excitement of the Rugby Six Nations Finals! Our residents were absolutely thrilled, showing boundless enthusiasm as they cheered on their teams.

Prior to the England vs. Wales match, the residents participated in their own Friendly Rugby Challenge in the garden. They had a fantastic time trying to score goals with the rugby ball in the net, fully embracing the spirit of the game. It was a highly engaging and enjoyable activity, with plenty of laughter and excitement as they cheered each other on.

The energy was contagious, and it created a fun, memorable moment for everyone involved!

Sharing Memories

What a surreal moment today at Waterside Court for one of our residents. Norma's son wanted to do something very special for his mum to commemorate her wedding anniversary, so he decided to surprise her with a trip down memory by bringing these memories to life through photos displayed on a projector.

Norma was able to relive these treasured memories of her wedding from years ago, as vivid photos were cast across the screen, taking her back to that joyful day in 1960 and her younger years. The team here at Waterside Court joined in and were able to share these memories with Norma and her family.

Treasured experiences and sharing moments like this make us all feel so privileged to have such residents in our home, being able to Celebrate Life with them. This was a very special moment indeed!!
Thank you so much Norma for sharing these memories with us and hope we continue to create more memories together.

International Women's Day!

Today we joined Women of the World in celebrating ‘woman power’ as we honoured the achievements, contributions, and progress made by women throughout history.

We had a wonderful day full of activities and entertainment aimed at celebrating the lives of our residents and creating memories. Julie was our special guest entertainer, and she truly made the day unforgettable with her energy and amazing voice.

We would like to send our heartfelt thank you to all the incredible women who inspire us every day. Here’s to strength, support, and more achievements!!

St David's Day!

We celebrated St. David’s Day here at Waterside Court with our residents in a joyful and meaningful way!
The day was filled with fun activities that honoured Welsh culture and traditions. We kicked off the celebration with arts and crafts, making daffodils, the Welsh flower.

Next, we hosted a lively Welsh-themed tea party, complete with delicious Welsh cakes and traditional treats. Our residents enjoyed sharing stories and learning about the history and significance of St. David, the patron saint of Wales.

It was a truly memorable St. David’s Day, bringing everyone together to celebrate culture, friendship, and the joy of shared experiences.

Pub Trip!

Here at Waterside Court we believe in maintaining community connections and celebrating life. This week we took a trip down to the pub for a game of darts and pool. Little did we know that we had such great talent amongst our residents as it quickly became competitive.

It was great to see how everyone enjoyed themselves and certainly took them down memory lane, reminiscing and sharing stories about pub games.

Playing darts was a bit of a challenge but was fun as everybody tried their best to win. Bill’s hidden talent came alive at the pool table where he showed everyone how the game is played - what a joy it was to watch!! We then set down for whisky and gin & tonic to top up a beautiful afternoon before heading back.

Thank you very much to The Red Lion at Cholsey staff for your patience and kindness. We will certainly be back.
