Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Enjoying the garden

On a sunny June day we love to have a stroll around our beautiful garden.  We are very fortunate to have a variety of areas where we can sit and enjoy the sunshine listening to birds.   Our main area is a lovely lawn area which is surrounded by a path and a landscaped pond.  This area overlooks a woodland area which has a pebble path winding through the trees and bluebells.  We even have an area that we call the “healing garden” which consists of raised flower beds.  Often we stop to have a chat with our gardener Dave who is very knowledgeable

Knowsley Safari Park

Staff and residents at Threshfield Court were treated to an exciting live streaming tour of Knowsley Safari, hosted by Engagement Assistant, Verity Dann.

Knowsley Safari has been welcoming visitors for 50 years since it opened in July 1971.  Situated in the Knowsley area of Merseyside, the safari park is home to 750 animals on a 550 acre site, it boasts the longest safari drive in the UK.

A trip to Bardon Moor

A lovely day in May and a wonderful trip on our mini bus to Barden Moor.  We enjoyed the views from our mini bus whilst enjoying tea and coffee and a biscuit.

There was a beautiful red kite in the sky which was lovely to watch and chat with other visitors to the area.  The sun was shining with a refreshing breeze which was just so uplifting.

Blooming Haus floral demo

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Threshfield Court were treated to an interactive virtual floristry masterclass courtesy of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus.

Blooming Haus started with a small pop-up shop in Chelsea.  They have since blossomed spectacularly on to the floristry scene as ‘floral engineers’, carving themselves an outstanding reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative floral design studios. The company is the vision of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski and his business partner, Michael Dariane. The pair bring a completely fresh approach to floristry and their ambition to push the boundaries of traditional floristry has laid the foundations of Blooming Haus’ success to date.

Baking fun

In May we would love to walk around our beautiful gardens and enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake.  However, as we know it’s been so cold, wet and very unpredictable that was not an option today.  We all decided to gather in our main dining room and bake some chocolate chip muffins whilst listening to some soothing classical music

Residents take voyage of discovery

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Threshfield Court were treated to a photographic tour and talk about the era of ocean travel by V&A Dundee Curator, Charlotte Hale.  The presentation forms part of a series of six talks and virtual tours that V&A Dundee is hosting for Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and private hospitals across the UK.
