Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Residents enjoy trip to reservoir

Staff and residents at Threshfield Court Care Centre in Threshfield were celebrating being able to go on short excursions again as lockdown restrictions ease across the country.  Residents are now able to go on a short trip to outdoor spaces without having to isolate on their return.

Residents from Threshfield Court Care Centre enjoyed a long-awaited trip to Grimworth Reservoir where they were able to have a cup of tea and a biscuit whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Stacey Nicholson, Senior General Manager at Threshfield Court Care Centre commented: “It is absolutely wonderful to be able to take our residents out for trips again.  We have all been waiting for this day and we are so thankful it is finally here.  Our residents have enjoyed all sorts of different entertainment during lockdown but nothing beats some fresh air and a change of scenery to blow away the cobwebs.”

National Vegetarian Week

To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, staff and residents at Barchester’s Threshfield Court care home in Threshfield were treated to an interactive virtual cookery demo courtesy of chef, Alex Connell, from Vegetarian for Life.

Chef Alex whipped up some tasty, healthy vegetarian snacks in a live, interactive cookery demo.  Much to residents’ delight, Threshfield Court head chef had prepared the same recipes so that residents could try all the dishes. Residents sampled delicious, light and summery veggie dishes including Borlotti bean and dill pate, Greek fritters with Tzatziki and Coronation 'chicken' pastries. All finished off with a sweet and simple but totally yummy banana bread.

Joanne Lucas, Clinical Lead Nurse at the home, said “From a very young age I just wanted to be a nurse.  I really enjoy the self-fulfilment in helping people live as full as life as possible. I would recommend any young person to enter the profession as it is just such a rewarding career.  You really can make a difference to a person’s life”.

Home celebrates the return of hairdressing

There were happy scenes at Threshfield Court Care Home in Threshfield as hairdressers were finally allowed back into the home.
