Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Gin Afternoon

Gin, gin!

How was your Wednesday afternoon? Ours was fantastic and full of Gin! One of our staff members brought in some of her favourite Gins from her collection to discuss with the residents.

We had a range of Gins and accompanying information about them including gin from Cotswold Distillery, the Morgan Motor Company, the Buckingham Palace Shop and Diddly Squat Farm Shop

Of course we rounded up the afternoon with a glass of gin with a range of garnishes to choose from! A wonderful afternoon was had by all.

Fall Prevention

Emma attended a brilliant talk on fall prevention, presented by Terry from Gloucestershire Care Services Nhs Trust at Tewkesbury Baptist Church.

Emma said “The information that was shared around fall prevention was invaluable and extremely insightful. Terry spoke about preventing a fall, what to do if one does have a fall and other safety measures that we can all take around the home.”

Remember these key things to prevent falling -
• Remove clutter and loose wires from the floor
• Add extra banisters and handles around your house
• Keep hydrated and well fed in order to prevent dizzy spells

Barbra's Birthday

Lovely Barbra celebrated her birthday at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home! We decorated Bushley lounge and Chef Jaro made the most delicious cake! Staff, residents and family gathered to sing for Barbra and make her day as special as it could be!

We strive to make everyone at Tewkesbury Fields feel special, not only on their birthday, but every single day!

Royal Ascot 2022

We hope that everyone had a lovely weekend and kept well hydrated in Fridays heat! Our residents enjoyed watching Royal Ascot on the TV paired with a refreshing glass of Pimm's - how perfect!

Fun, fun and more fun!

We have had such a fun day! We’ve had a scrabble tournament, cross word puzzles and we even had a special activity discussing one of our residents history board that her family made for her!

It has been so lovely seeing our residents getting to know one another and getting to know all of the amazing staff here!

Newtown Women's Institution join us for Afternoon Tea

We had an amazing afternoon at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home as we welcomed the lovely ladies from Newtown Women's Institution! We all gathered for afternoon tea - specially prepared by our Head Chef Jaro, in Cotswold Dining room.

It was wonderful getting to know the ladies and chatting over a cup of tea! Our residents really enjoyed getting involved with the group and hearing all of the WI stories!

Thank you ladies for joining us at Tewkesbury Fields! We can’t wait to welcome you back again soon!
