Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco
Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.
As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

PAT Dogs
Our regular Pets As Therapy dog Riggs, has only recently started visiting our home and spending time with each one of our residents, but has already brought many smiles around.
You can see the sheer joy on everyone's faces; there are always huge smiles, ohhh, and big cuddles too!
The joy of seeing all residents enjoying Riggs and Lucy's visit is just priceless.
Big thanks to our lovely volunteer Lucy, for visiting every two weeks, and spending time bringing smiles to everyone.

Victoria Gardens
Another beautiful afternoon with the sun shining and so another chance to use our minibus to spend some time enjoying fresh air in the Victoria Gardens in Tewkesbury.
Outings to areas of natural beauty, local attractions and landmarks are a key part of our activities calendar.

Battle of Tewkesbury -1471
'Battle of Tewkesbury 1471' - 552 years ago!
We were delighted to welcome speaker Richard Goddard, from Gloucester Local History Association, who delivered an excellent knowledgeable and interesting talk about the Battle of Tewkesbury 1471; such amazing facts that we discovered!
Residents found the talk so fascinating!

Riggs - our new Pets As Therapy Dog
Exciting news to share!
Meet Riggs - our new Pets As Therapy dog, and his mum Lucy.
Such a character and gentle dog, loved the fuss and attention given by everyone.
Thanks Lucy from volunteering your time with our residents and bringing your lovely dog to see everyone.
We are certainly looking forward to see you again soon.

Monthly quiz with Tewkesbury Rotary Club
Another great afternoon testing our general knowledge.
We've welcomed back the great volunteer John from Tewkesbury Rotary Club, who brought 40 questions with 4 different themes.
This month's winner is our lovely resident Marion! John presented Marion with a box of Jaffa cakes as a prize for this month!
Well done!

Meeting "Sparky" - the rabbit
We welcomed volunteers from Cheltenham Animal Shelter , who told us all about the amazing work they do!
Our residents were thrilled to meet "Sparky " - the rabbit, as they went from room to room and the communal lounge, providing companionship and lots of reminiscence.
Residents talked about when they had rabbits, how many they've owned, how they looked after them, their colours and sizes, and about all other pets they've also had.
Thank you so much to the lovely team for coming along, for the lovely experience, and we can't wait to see you again soon.
