Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Celebrating Opening Of Our New Dementia Community.

Councillor Cate Cody was invited to officially open the new community, named the Cotswold Suite. Cate spent time talking with residents, staff and families.

Residents, families and staff enjoyed seeing the transformation that had been created to provide a beautiful new community overlooking stunning countryside. The home’s hospitality team provided complimentary refreshments and delicious homemade cakes throughout the day.

Barchester’s Dementia Nurse specialist, Isabel Magalhaes was available to answer any questions guests had about finding the right home and about the dementia services and support offered at Tewkesbury Fields.

Sunday Morning Classic Car Coffee Meet

Our recent Classic Car Coffee Morning was another successful event!

As always it's a pleasure to welcome members from Gloucestershire Carers Hub and this week we welcomed Stephen Moore who is always available to offer advice and support to members of the community.

Many thanks to all Classic Car owners and visitors that came to spend the morning with us all at Tewkesbury fields.

We welcomed the students from Alderman Knight School to join us for a game of Botcha, and what great fun we've had together!

Sadly, today was their last visit before they break for their school holidays.

Each visit was unique, and together we've created many memories, we built relationships and got to know each other.

We wished all the students the very best in the future!

Our Care Home is Number One In The District!

Today residents and staff celebrated with our Senior Regional Director Claire Brewer, as we were named number ONE Care Home in the District by the independent Internet care home reviews website, carehome.co.uk.

Carehome.co.uk is often one of the first places people will look when searching for a care home for a loved one, and is independently run to ensure that all reviews are vetted and come from people who have genuine experience of the homes that they are reviewing.

Senior Regionl Director Claire said “It is testament to the wonderful work of the fantastic staff at Tewkesbury Fields that they consistently achieve excellent reviews on independent sites such as Google and carehome.co.uk. They fully deserve to be recognized for the top quality care they deliver and I couldn’t be prouder of them. Well done to everyone ".

Thanking the NHS

On Saturday we celebrated the 77th birthday of NHS England.

Our General Manager, has been was out in the community visiting Tewkesbury Community Hospital, Bredon Surgery Mythe Medical Practice and Church Street Medical with bags of goodies to thank all NHS staff for the tireless efforts and dedication.
You are an invaluable part of everyone’s daily lives, your hard work never goes unnoticed.

Picnic in the Park

We always welcome a trip in the minibus and spending the afternoon at Eckington Picnic Park, an ideal spot to watch the water and world go by.

It was a moment to relax by the riverside and have a mini picnic.

Visit to the Abbey

The residents took a trip to the magnificent Tewkesbury Abbey, where they spent time admiring the historic beauty of this local landmark.

Our residents mentioned how impressed they were by the complex architecture of the Abbey and took their time to explore the site.

For some, a place that brings back many memories of celebrations.

Making Jam!

We are incredibly proud to share that we've made our "Tewkesbury Fields Strawberry Jam"

In the past month, we have been picking an astonishing amount of strawberries from our garden.

The residents have enjoyed eating them, with or without cream!

We realised that we had an abundance crop this year, so we decided to make our own Strawberry Jam! It has been incredible teamwork between residents and staff, from collecting and washing the fruit to cutting each Strawberry, to giving it to our chef to make the jam. Today we added the final touches to the jars with labels and decorations.

It has been a fantastic ongoing project, and we are all really proud!

Another great example of team work at Tewkesbury Fields.

A walk by the river

This afternoon, residents have enjoyed going out for a walk at the beautiful Victoria Gardens by the river in Tewkesbury.

The garden space, all the beautiful flowers specially all the roses, the stunning waterside setting and the views of the Ham and the Malvern Hills are spectacular and just perfect for a tranquil walk and time to relax.
