Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

A Breakfast Welcome for Veterans

Today, we welcomed the Tewkesbury Armed Forces Veterans for a super breakfast and as always, it was great to meet our Veterans and catch up on news, and what’s going on in their community.  We also talked about our Fall Fighters campaign we are running with RoSPA, and what we can all do to prevent falls - Sadly every year one in three people over the age of 65 will have a fall, and this risk doubles for those over 80 years.  Armed with this knowledge, we hope they will spread the word to their friends and continue to keep safe and very well.  Thank you for coming to see us, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Richard’s Night Out

We joined in with the wonderful local Tewkesbury community, for an evening of live music and food.  The food was excellent and music was stunning, and Richard our resident and ambassador for the evening, made lots of new friends, and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  A huge thank you to Henry, Jordanna , their team and all the local business's that supported this amazing community event.

Having a Flowery Fun Afternoon

For International Flower Day we spent the afternoon making beautiful flower arrangements with our residents here at Tewkesbury fields.  The lounge smelt wonderful from the fresh flowers and our residents really enjoyed creating their bouquets and floral arrangements.

Happy Chinese Lunar Year!

Happy Chinese Lunar Year from Tewkesbury Fields! Our residents celebrated today and enjoyed a wonderful Chinese banquet - and of course, we all had fortune cookies!

Burns Supper Fun

We celebrated the Scottish Burns Supper today, with highlights including a Bagpiper, a Robert Burns Poetry reading by Nancy and giving the time honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding’ race’ – the Haggis!

General Manager, James Culley at Tewkesbury Fields Care home, thought it was a perfect occasion to celebrate a day steeped in age-old tradition as well as getting a Scottish Bagpiper to pipe in the residents to the restaurant, a spot of Scotch whisky tasting and the celebrated haggis – we even had a vegetarian version for the vegetarians (and for those who didn’t fancy Haggis!!).
