Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home
Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.
Alison Wareing
Hi, I'm Alison. I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.
I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals. After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication. The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.
Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Life at Sutton Grange Care Home
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Everyone had a wonderful time dancing and singing along with Dave Dare as our entertainment. The residents enjoyed some cake made by family members, alongside a lovely cup of tea.
Southport Flower Show
We had a lovely trip to the Southport flower show, which the residents really enjoyed. We did two trips, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and had a whale of a time.
Soroptomists of Southport
We have recently had a community event led by the Soroptimists of Southport. This was a lovely event and everyone really enjoyed it. The entertainment was from the wonderful Rachel Rose and she had everybody singing and dancing along throughout the afternoon.
Celebrating 5 Years
Sutton Grange recently celebrated its 5th anniversary. The day was amazing; we had the Southport Rock Choir perform and held our own dog show, which was a great success. We also had some other residents from Dovedale Court come and join in the fun.
90th Birthday Party
We held a Hawaiian themed birthday party for our lovely Bill which was organised together with his daughter. It was a fantastic day and Bill really enjoyed himself. We had cocktails and mocktails alongside an entertainer for all to dance and sing along.
Independence Day
Staff and residents had a wonderful day celebrating Independence day. Everyone was entertained by Sophie Bennett while enjoying burgers and hotdogs cooked by the fabulous kitchen team. It was an amazing day and all residents commented on how much they enjoyed it. Residents gave the kitchen team a round of applause for all their hard work.
