Activities at The Spires Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angie Smith

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Angie and I am an activities coordinator here at The Spires. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends.

Show Suites Opening

Mayor Councillor, Mrs Janice Greaves, officially unveiled the brand new show suites at The Spires.

Janice, with the help of Lisa Downes, the newly appointed General Manager, cut the ribbon with an enormous pair of scissors.

The suites, fitted out by Barchester’s team of expert interior designers, gives the local community an opportunity to see what the finished 70-bed care home will look like. The show suite features spacious en-suite bedrooms and a living room, as well as a large assisted bathroom, all designed with the comfort of residents in mind.

Topping Out

The Spires celebrated a major milestone with a topping out ceremony. The occasion marked the completion of the latest stage of the construction on our 70-bed care home, where the final tile was laid.

Our home, aptly named after the three spires on Lichfield’s famous Cathedral, was built by McGoff Construction Ltd. The Spires will provide high-quality residential and dementia care for older people in the neighbouring community and will open its doors to residents in the summer of 2018.

We will have an in-house hair salon, bistro area and Wi-Fi will be available in all parts of the home. Not far from the city centre, the view from the upstairs balcony looks out across woodland and surrounding farmland.

We can't wait to welcome in our staff, residents and loved ones.
