Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Grindley

Activities Coordinator

Hello My name is Zoe, I have been in the life enrichment team at Southgate Beaumont since December 2021.

I am originally from Liverpool and moved to London in 1997 after being accepted at Mountview Theatre school. After graduating I worked as an actress and accomplished voiceover artist for many years. I also have a vast amount customer service experience, working in many West End Theatres, as Cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and at Claridges hotel in Mayfair.

Zoe has a passion for making strong connections with people and creating lasting memorable experiences.

My role here at Southgate Beaumont is to ensure our residents lives are packed full of enriching and interesting activity. We provide a wide range of both home led and community led activity for all residents as well as personalised and individual hobby and interest focused events. Our programme ranges from cocktail making, to art history talks, exercise sessions as well as fine dining dinner parties catered for by our chefs

I have made lots of lovely new friends at Southgate Beaumont care home and look forward to making many more.

Southgate Beaumont host Tea Party for Contact The Elderly

Southgate Beaumont host Tea Party for Contact The Elderly

Contact the Elderly is currently the only national charity solely dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people. Supported by a network of volunteers, the charity organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people, aged 75 and over, who live alone. Offering a regular and vital friendship link every month. Each older person is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to a volunteer host for the afternoon. Tea parties are a real lifeline of friendship for our older guests who have little or no contact with family or friends. They bring people of all ages together, develop fulfilling friendships and support networks, and give everyone involved something to look forward to each month

Samantha, Home Services Advisor, from Southgate Beaumont contacted “Contact the Elderly’s” local coordinator and arranged for Southgate Beaumont to host the group.

“We had 14 guests from Contact the elderly, 7 older people and their drivers, who joined our residents and their families for Tea. Our Head Chef Mark Roberts prepared a lovely afternoon tea that was very well received by our guests, in fact they said it was the best they had had.

Samantha arranged a goody bag for the guests to take away that included an invite to future events. A very special Thank you to Mark Shenker who helped look after our guest.

The afternoon was such a great success we are already in the process of booking Tea Party dates for Hugh Myddelton House and Cheverton Lodge as well as arranging to host a Sunday Lunch for the group as part of the Spare Chair Sunday campaign Contact the Elderly are running in conjunction with Bisto.

Thanks again to our wonderful Volunteer Mark Shenker who’s help is invaluable.

The Mount Carmel Ladies Group Enfield

The Mount Carmel Ladies Group Enfield

Last year Samantha from Southgate Beaumont presented the History of Southgate house to the Enfield Over 50’s forum. Over 40 people attended and was so well received Samantha was asked to go out in to the community and present at The Mount Carmel Ladies monthly meeting, a group that has been running for over 50 years. Samantha meet with a group of 35 ladies from the Enfield and Southgate area. She presented a history of the home from the land being owned by Margery Arnold in 1344, to Southgate House being Built in 1719, up to Southgate Beaumont as it is today and the events and activities our residents and the community enjoy. The presentation was very well received and number of show rounds have already been arranged.  A wonderful email was sent by one of the members.

To: Samantha Neal
Subject: Thank you from the Enfield Ladies Group

Dear Samantha
I know I thanked you in person but I just wanted to repeat those thanks because the whole Group really enjoyed your talk today.  There was such a buzz afterwards with various conversations going on both about the history of Beaumont House and its current use as well.  They loved your enthusiasm and were delighted with the goodie bags at the end.   I feel quite sure that a group of us would be interested in contacting you in the near future to arrange a visit.
Meanwhile, thank you too for the invite you sent about forthcoming events.  We are going to print some to hand out at our next meeting.  The World Book day sounds fun, and although I personally won't be able to attend the Art Lecture on the 24th February, at least I know now that they're held monthly on each last Wednesday.
Once again, many thanks for visiting our Group today, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
