Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at South Grange Care Home

Pet therapy
South Grange residents were very happy to see the return of our therapet visits. We welcomed Korky the gold retriever cross and his owner Sandy. Everyone was loving the cuddles.
We can’t wait to see them back in a fortnight.

Sam showcases his artistic flair!
A big thank you to Sam for always weaving his magic in bringing the activities team ideas come to life.
This time Sam made us our very own whack a mole which is designed for the residents to whack the staff.
So far it has been a big hit with the nursery children and we can’t wait for the residents to have fun with it

The Dee Ukes
South Grange staff and residents welcomed ‘The Dee Ukes’, a ukulele band from Dundee to perform a medley of songs played solely on ukuleles. The Dee Ukes said “We were very impressed during our first ever visit to South Grange Nursing Home that we were joined by so many residents who gathered in their beautiful circular lounge which features a stunning chandelier!
The residents were in good singing voice and we had a few dancers, including a wheelchair dancer. It was great to speak to residents and a called Val told me she lives in Ramsay Street, Monifieth and, being an avid Neighbours super fan, featured in the Courier in 2022 prior to the final episode of the Australian show. Val still lives in Ramsay Street as she is having a short stay at South Grange.”

Father's Day
Residents at South Grange enjoyed a lovely day celebrating Father’s Day on June 16. With the lovely warm weather residents were able to enjoy meeting up with loved ones in the home’s garden whilst others made use of our beautiful lounges to spend time with their loved ones.
To celebrate all the fantastic dads and making our men feel more special the activity staff made up some sweet treats to deliver, this definitely put a smile on all their faces. Catherine Lappin, General Manager said: “We’ve all had a wonderful day today welcoming friends and family into the home. Occasions like Father’s Day are so important, it was fantastic to have such a lovely gathering with our residents and their loved ones all together enjoying the sunshine.”

Strawberry Shortcake Day
National Strawberry Shortcake Day on June 14 lands at the peak of strawberry season. Residents celebrated the day by indulging in strawberry sweet treats made by trainee chef Adam, with everyone agreeing they were delicious
We also spent the afternoon reminiscing about our younger days spending time being strawberry pickers, our delicious baking that would include strawberries and how any we would eat whilst picking them.

National Fish & Chip Day
National Fish and Chip day has returned for the 5th year running with the popular dish being served daily in fish & chip shops, pubs, restaurants, and hotels, by the fishermen and farmers who provide the sustainable and natural ingredients used to create it. On this day the nation will be enjoying this iconic family favourite which is traditionally eaten on a Friday.
Our head chef Bernard, prepared and served residents a delicious lunch of battered haddock with chips and sides of mushy peas, tartare sauce and sprinkling of vinegar. Which was enjoyed by everyone!
