Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Intergenerational fun

Residents and staff at South Grange welcomed back our local nursery children after their summer break. We had a morning full of fun and sports games. Where we set up an area for our parachute which the residents laughed at the children playing hide and seek under this. We had a game of giant Kerplunk that our maintenance team made for our use. Ribbon spinning that the girls loved twirling about with. We also had throw  the bean bag through the hoop, games of darts and 4 in a row.

Monthly Grange Gathering

South Grange held its monthly Grange Gathering at the weekend. Residents, families and friends were all invited to join our get together. We had delicious cakes prepared by our head chef Bernard, live music by Paul Cooney along with an afternoon of singing and dancing.

Everyone is looking forward to next month’s gathering!

Housekeeping Week

Residents at South Grange  are celebrating Housekeeping Week, which takes place in September. Residents wanted to thank all the wonderful housekeeping staff at the home, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of those living there.

Housekeeping Week is dedicated to recognising the efforts of hard-working housekeeping staff around the world.   The team were treated to an afternoon tea in the lounge with music and a competitive quiz for everyone to join in with. The activity team put together a delicious spread for everyone to enjoy.

Residents also gave thanks by putting on their baking aprons in the morning and made a batch of lovely coconut truffles for everyone to enjoy. The housekeeping team also received a sweet cone as a small gift for all the hard work they put in.

Games fun!

Residents at South Grange had a fun filled afternoon of playing a range of games from their childhood.  Bagatelle, residents loved the challenge of competing with each other to get the highest score.

Buckaroo, we all had a laugh as the donkey bucked and gave us all a fright. Lastly good old domino's to see who could win the most games.

National Cheesecake Day

Residents joined our Baking club to make their very own cheesecake, from flavours to toppings, everyone had a great morning learning how to make each cake from scratch.

Our residents spent time learning more about the history of this delicious dessert and were amazed to find out that the origins of Cheesecake can be traced back to ancient Greece.

In the afternoon our cheesecakes were set and ready for everyone to enjoy outside in our garden with refreshments.

We had a lovely day as we ravelled in all things cheesecake.

Giant KerPlunk

Activities staff had a meeting with our maintenance team of new ideas that they can build for residents, many ideas have been discussed and agreed, one being our giant KePlunk.

Residents were amazed with the work of our maintenance team building a new game for everyone to enjoy.

Everyone enjoyed a morning of laughter while playing KerPlunk while chatting about previous games played with family and listening to a selection of favourite songs.
