Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.

Life at South Grange Care Home
South Grange Trishaw experience
Cycle without Age volunteers were back again this afternoon to give another resident a great experience on the trishaws! Today was Franks turn and he had the most amazing afternoon singing a selection of different songs as he waved to new friendly faces. Frank said he felt like a king as he greeted others around and gave Jackie, our driver 10/10 for driving and making his laugh!
We feel so grateful to be able to have such amazing experiences every week!
Wimbledon 2023
Tennis fans at South Grange were delighted to be able to watch this year’s 136th Championships. Residents and staff got together to watch the matches and celebrated by having afternoon tea whipped up by our head chef with traditional Wimbledon-inspired strawberry and cream treats with refreshments of pimms and prosecco.
Anyone for tennis?
Residents and staff at South Grange care home in Monifieth were at the ready for the start of Wimbledon on July 3rd with delicious strawberries and cream, all washed down with a glass of Pimms.
Tennis fans at South Grange were delighted to be able to watch this year’s 136th Championships. Residents and staff got together to watch the matches and celebrated by having afternoon tea whipped up by head chef Vicky with traditional Wimbledon-inspired strawberry and cream treats.
Bus trip to Camperdown
Some of our ladies joined us for a bus trip through to Camperdown Country Park in Dundee today. The weather wasn’t on our side for a picnic outside (which was freshly made by our chef) so we ate on the bus instead.
Luckily the sun came out for us to enjoy a leisurely stroll around the zoo to see the animals. Followed by a well-deserved cup of tea from the cafe.
Dogs Trust
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.
Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
Summer BBQ and Live Concert
Our Seven Arches unit were very kindly gifted money from a residents family members. Residents and staff came to an agreement that they would like to host a Summer BBQ with live music.
The residents and staff spent time in between the cafe area and garden taking a mixture of silly and nice pictures with our photo frame whilst our talented chef cooked our delicious food on the BBQ. Everyone agreed the food was brilliant.
Followed by our summer concert in the afternoon with Paul Sullivan, where the elderly joined in the celebrations. Everyone joined in by singing, dancing and clapping along to the music.
Even Elvis came and joined us for a few songs but had to leave the building quickly to go to his next gig. Paul was requested to sing Bring Him Home, a song from Les Miserable which was so moving it brought some to tears and enjoyed by all.
The weather wasn’t on our side in the afternoon to have our concert outdoors but that didn’t stop us having a great day full of fun.
