Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Cycling without Age

This week we had a visit from Cycling Without Age Scotland Monifieth who brought along two of their Trishaw's and volunteers from the charity chaperoning a resident and a member of staff on a ride around the local streets, this helped residents to bring back memories of their younger years.

This was a big hit with both staff and residents. We are looking forward to welcoming the volunteers and trishaws back to South Grange.

South Grange’s street party for King Charles

Excitement was in the air as we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles in style.

Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and red, white and blue balloons, setting the stage for a grand royal street party, coronation quiz and King Charles’ favourite music.

The whole home came together, along with families and friends to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.

Our talented chef prepared an assortment of delicious sweet and savoury treats for all to enjoy, along with refreshments.

We all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion.

Therapet visits have resumed at South Grange

Our residents were delighted to have one to one visits with Penny our therapet. Penny and her owner Tom are volunteers for the Therapet Service ran by Canine Concern Scotland Trust. We had a lovely morning full of kisses and cuddles from Penny!

A walk to our local garden centre

We had a wonderful time at South Grange today! We put on our warm clothes and went for a walk to our local garden centre. Our ladies love gardening and we wanted to see the beautiful flowers they had. We got some great ideas for our own garden. It was a lovely afternoon!

Coronation talk

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
