Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at South Grange Care Home

Four Generations

One of our residents had a visit from family this week. Pat was over the moon to meet her great grandson Reuben and having four generations together for the visit.

Mother’s Day afternoon tea at South Grange

Residents and their families were invited along to South Grange’s café for a mother’s day afternoon tea prepared by our chef.

Our home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting in recognition of Mother’s Day and all the mothers in our home.

During the lead up to the day, all residents joined in to make Ferrero Roche bouquets which were handed out to all the mothers on the day.

Great afternoon had by all.

,

St. Patrick's Day Concert

Residents had a fun filled afternoon for St. Patricks Day with a live music concert from our local singer Mike Lees. Mike entertained us with lots of Irish music, old and new. He had everyone dancing, singing and clapping along. Fun afternoon had by all.

Comic Relief Fundraiser – Pie the Staff

Staff and residents at South Grange got stuck into help raise funds for Comic Relief. The activities team organised human ‘Pie Face’ where staff were able to volunteer to have a cream pie thrown in their face. Residents and staff took turns to grab a plate of cream to throw. The morning was full of laughter and everyone had a great time getting together to raise money.

Thank you to all of our staff who volunteered to make this happen and for all who have donated for such a great cause.

Nutrition and Hydration Week

Residents and staff at South Grange celebrated nutrition and hydration week by sampling different fruit flavoured teas instead of their usual cuppas. They also made smoothies using different fruits (apples, mangos and raspberries etc.) and different bases such as cream, ice cream and/or fruit juice. Followed of course by tasting them. Everyone agreed they were delicious!

Historic Royal Palaces

Across our services, our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.  Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
