Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at South Grange Care Home

Halloween crafts with local nursery
We had a busy morning with our local Grange nursery children around the topic of Halloween. We had a themed story book called the Pumpkin soup, it made us all think of our tummy’s. We also helped the children make pumpkin sun catchers.

Leaf printing
Residents enjoyed a morning of wrapping up warm and collecting a range of leaves from our garden. We let them dry out so in the afternoon we done some leaf printing with them. Our pictures turned out amazing with all the different colours we used!

Exploring Nature
On the 10th October, we went on an exciting walk to explore local nature around our home.
Our residents had a fabulous time going out for a walk around our local area Monifieth. They enjoyed a day, full of tranquillity and peace. We were able to explore the local wildlife, which everyone found fascinating.
Loraine one of our residents took pleasure in being our nature guide and was able to point out and name a lot of the trees and plants that we saw, along with our furry little friends the squirrels.
A lovely day was had by all.

Residents join community group
Staff and residents at Barchester’s South Grange care home in Monifieth have enjoyed regular visits to Monifieth Parish Church for their weekly singing group. Staff at South Grange have organised weekly outings to the local church to continue engagement within the local community to support residents social stimulation.
Joining the local singing group has been great continuing to enrich the lives of our residents this winter and support care home staff in finding sustainable connections.

World Animal Day
World Animal Day is an annual global event to celebrate all animals across the world. It aims to raise awareness of the importance of animal welfare and endeavours to raise standards for all animals around the globe. Residents had a brilliant time learning about all different kinds of animals and their habitats while having a visit from some therapy animals from Eden’s Garden and held a quiz about the different collective nouns for animals some of which were downright bizarre!
General Manager, Catherine, said: “Our residents’ absolute favourite thing is animals, we often have visits from therapy pets because we know how much the residents love to interact with them. I think the animals love it just as much, they get so much attention here – I don’t think they really want to leave!”

An afternoon with Mike Lees
Residents and staff at South Grange were treated to a live concert from our local singer Mike Lees. Everyone joined in singing, dancing and clapping along to the music.
Mike was requested to sing a range of resident’s favourite songs which was enjoyed by all.
Thank you Mike for a great afternoon.
