Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Bringing back an old favourite

Residents at South Grange were delighted to see that an old favourite was back on our programme this week. We had an enjoyable afternoon of laughter and fun as we played Balloon Badminton. Both teams were very competitive in trying to get the ultimate win. Here’s to the next game!

Big Quiz of the Year

Staff and residents from South Grange Care Home, joined fellow keen quizzers from over 250 Barchester care homes and hospitals across the whole of the UK, including Wales, Scotland, Jersey and the Isle of Wight, to put their collective general knowledge to the test.

General Manager, Catherine said: “We’ve got some excellent quizzers at our home, we are very competitive - our residents love taking part in anything where winning is involved and collectively their general knowledge is pretty phenomenal!”

Margaret, resident at South Grange said: “It has been a lovely afternoon. It was wonderful to see everyone in all the other homes joining in. I really enjoyed getting together with my fellow residents to take on the other homes – it is amazing how competitive everyone gets!”

Hogmanay Celebrations!

Our Hogmanay celebrations lasted the full weekend. We started off by welcoming back the Carnoustie and District Pipe Band for an afternoon of traditional Scottish music to see out the end of 2023! They marched right through the home so everyone could hear them.

Next up we had a quiz of all things Scottish accompanied by a wee dram!

Happy New Year

Here at South Grange we would like to wish all families, friends and the community a very happy and safe New Year.

A big thank you for all your support during the past year and always – we are very grateful.

Our talented chef pulled out all the stops to provide a show-stopping spread of tasty sweet and savoury dishes and refreshing drinks.

Spirits were high as everyone talked about their hopes and expectations for the year ahead and we all danced and sang to some timeless party songs.

Merry Christmas from everyone at South Grange

South Grange residents had a fantastic Christmas Day, which involved a morning of presents galore, pre-Christmas dinner drinks which were flowing followed by a beautiful festive lunch with turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets and puddings. With family visiting their loved ones throughout the day.

The fun doesn’t stop for us, we are now ready for our Boxing Day meal … Mmmm

Seven Arches dine out

Residents and staff from our Seven Arches community were treated to a lovely Christmas meal out to one of our local restaurants. The residents had a great afternoon with cracker pulling, joke telling, plenty of food and the drinks were certainly flowing with lots of laughter.

They are looking forward to the next meal out.
