Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Halloween Celebrations

Residents and staff started their day by having a fun filled morning of Halloween games from spider target, witches hat toss and lots more!

Our afternoon was full of dancing and singing with a live music concert provided by Mike Lee’s. Residents, staff and family members wore some amazing costumes ranging from Cruella Deville, witches, scary Harry Potter and lots more.

A big thank you goes to our chef, Adam for making some delicious spooky cupcakes for everyone to enjoy! What a great time we had celebrating!

Guy Fawkes Celebrations

Remember, Remember the 5th of November!

Residents and staff celebrated bonfire night by creating their own firework themed biscuits and sparklers for the occasion.  Everyone agreed they were delicious and were washed down with a lovely cup of hot chocolate and cream to keep us cosy whilst we watched the fireworks in our local area light up the sky!

Dancing shoes on

Residents and staff have been treated to a few concerts this month with our local musician Jon.

Our residents always look forward to our live concerts where they get their dancing shoes on and take to the floor for the afternoon.

Everyone joined in singing, dancing and clapping along to some of their old time favourites.

Jon was requested to sing a range of songs from the audience. It was lovely to have family and friends join us for the afternoon too.

Dementia friendly Art club

Residents have been appreciating going out for the afternoon to our local church where they spend their time creating their own master pieces from a range of sketches which they can choose whether they paint or colour in.

The group is ran by a charity and their volunteers called Crossreach, Heart for art.

Our residents interact with other members of the community over a cuppy and cake.

Good Luck, Sam!

Staff and residents came together to celebrate the nomination of our Head of Maintenance, Sam a divisional winner of Barchester Care Awards. Residents rooted for Sam by cheering him on with bunting, good luck banners, balloons and silly glasses!

We are very proud of Sam for achieving this nomination and for all of his hard work and dedication to all of our residents at South Grange.
Although Sam didn’t win, he has still done us proud for getting this far and is a winner in our eyes!

Songs & Memories

Residents at South Grange are enjoying attending a local weekly singing group called Songs & Memories (SAM as we know it) at our local Monifieth South Angus, Church of Scotland.

We spend the afternoon singing to some old favourites from O Danny Boy, Loch Lomond, Singing in the Rain and many more. Our residents love to have a cuppa and chat to members of the community old and new.

Music is a big part of our resident lives!
