Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Using biscuits to make the shape of our house before decorating the outside with icing shower for snow effect and other sweet for decoration. Some residents also chose to decorate their own gingerbread men. giving them smiley faces with icing and accessorising them with different sweeties. We all enjoyed working together to see who’s was best. they didn't last long once they were finished as we enjoyed them with a cup of tea. We all agreed they tasted really good!

Our residents at South Grange love to play their weekly bingo, so we thought why not make it Christmas themed now we are into December! We had lots of Christmassy goodies up for grabs i.e. chocolate selection boxes , shower gels, bubble bath and Christmas hand soaps. One of our ladies won three different games which she was delighted at and decided to stop playing after the third to give someone else a go at winning!

Afternoon production of ‘Snow Qween’

We welcomed Shaper/Caper, the multi-award winning Dundee based dance-theatre company and hosts of Dance for Parkinson’s. Where they performed an afternoon interactive workshop production of the ‘The Snow Qween’.

We had a great afternoon not only watching the production but we were able to follow along with the actions and had a boogie at the end.

We can’t wait to see what the next show production will be!
