Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Cheers to the New Year

This week we thought we’d kick start 2024 with a trip to The Flower Pots Inn in Cheriton to enjoy a pint of their award winning ale which is brewed at their on site brewery. A big thank you to all the staff for being so friendly & accommodating, we’ll definitely be returning for another visit soon.

Rocking Around the Christmas Tree

We had a full house on last week for our Christmas Party. There was music, dancing & the Buck’s Fizz was flowing for a festive afternoon full of smiles & laughter.

A special mention & well done to Vernon & Beryl for winning the Christmas Jumper contest with their fabulous outfits, they looked fantastic!

Thank you to the wonderful Sarah Hobbs - Singer for providing the entertainment (we particularly enjoyed the interactive rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas!)

And lastly a big thank you to everyone who came and joined us to celebrate.

Scrabble Club

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a board game or two, so this morning we enjoyed a game of scrabble in our cafe. Well done to Caroline who was the match winner!

Happy Birthday Chris

Christmas may now be over, but the celebrations are continuing here at Shawford Springs as it’s our wonderful resident Chris’s birthday! A big Happy Birthday Chris, we hope you’ve had a fantastic day
