Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Shawford Springs Care Home

Brambridge Garden Centre - Mini Bus travels
Last week we enjoyed a morning outing to our lovely local garden centre in Brambridge for coffee and a wander.

Wonderful Wimbledon
Last week we held a Wimbledon themed party with Strawberries & Cream, Pimms & music courtesy of the fabulous singer Helen. (We even had Andy Murray make an appearance for the occasion!)

Out and About in our Community
Last week we had the first of our monthly ‘mystery’ trips, with this month’s mystery destination being the beautiful Royal Victoria Country Park in Southampton. We decided to take a look at the exhibition inside the chapel building, which is situated in the middle of the park. The exhibition tells the history of the park from the Victorian period when a grand military hospital was built on the site, but sadly the building suffered flooding & a fire in the 20th century so was subsequently demolished.
We’d like to say thank you to the lovely volunteers at the chapel for being so friendly & welcoming, we had a brilliant time

A very Special Celebration
Two of our lovely residents Lena and Bruce celebrated a very special Wedding Anniversary this week ..... They have been married for 75 years !
Along with all their cards, flowers and special Anniversary cake they received a special card from His majesty The King and His Queen Camilla
We all wish them many congratulations on this happy milestone

Otterbourne Summer Festival 2024
We were absolutely delighted to be a sponsor of this year’s Otterbourne Summer Festival, which took place on the 23rd June.
Our home services advisor Sonja set up a stall with free goody bags, homemade cupcakes & leaflets about our wonderful home, so we decided to go along to support her and enjoy all that the festival had to offer.

Kaleidoscope Knitting - Knit and Natter
Our Knit & Natter ladies have been busy working on another project & this time they’ve been knitting an array of colourful squares to make into cosy blankets.
The blankets will be kept on our minibus to keep everyone warm & toasty on outings when the weather begins to get colder.
