Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Shawford Springs Care Home

Gardening Club
We are very fortunate to be situated next door to the wonderful George Beckett Nurseries, which means we can pop round for plants and flowers whenever we are in need.
And this morning we did just that! We took a leisurely stroll next door to pick out a selection of marigolds and flowers to brighten up our patios.

Out and About in the Community - Longstock Water Gardens
This morning we took a trip to the beautiful Longstock Water Gardens near Stockbridge. We went for a stroll around the gardens taking in the various flora and fauna before sitting for a while to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and stunning views.

Baking Club
Yesterday we spent the afternoon in the kitchen baking lemon drizzle cupcakes and chocolate brownies ready for today’s Bake Sale
If you are free this afternoon at 3pm then why not pop in and try one of our delicious home made cakes. All monies raised will be going to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.

Out and About in the Community - The Old Station Tea Rooms
This morning we enjoyed a lovely outing to The Old Station Tea Rooms in the New Forest for a cuppa and a delicious slice of cake.
We’d like to say a big thank you to the friendly staff for being so welcoming and accommodating. We plan to return for another visit in the Summer.

A lovely afternoon of relaxing entertainment
The residents were treated to a wonderful afternoons singing today with the lovely Sarah Hobbs - Singer . We were entertained by a selection of songs from the 50's and 60's which the residents enjoyed singing along to
Thank you Sarah, we look forward to welcoming you back very soon

Looking after our Garden
Each week our Gardening Club get-together to spend time undertaking a variety of tasks around the garden. From planting to watering, weeding & sweeping, everyone gets stuck in to help to keep our beautiful garden looking its best.
One of the club’s latest projects has been to plant sunflowers, which will be entered into a best sunflower contest in the Summer.
