Activities at Ritson Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Rita Matusebiciute

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Rita and I am the Activities Coordinator.

I have many years of experience in Activities and I have been with Barchester since 2018. I previously worked in Chelsea in another Care Home working with all of the West End stars!

I love being part of the Ritson team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting and varied activities available every week. Learning about the residents and including their interests, hobbies and life experiences into the activities that we provide is one of the most rewarding aspects of working here. I am always one of the first to introduce myself to new residents so that we can chat about what kind of activities they enjoy.

Happy Birthday Elvis

Today here at Ritson Lodge we have been celebrating what would have been Elvis Presley’s 88th Birthday.

Our ladies here at the home said Elvis was, “A beautiful man with beautiful eyes and he sure could sing! What else would a lady want - he had it all!” they said.

To mark the special day we all enjoyed Banana and Peanut Butter sandwiches and a Pepsi as these were his favourite snacks.

Ritson Lodge is rated GOOD by CQC

The moment we have all been waiting for! Ritson Lodge is: GOOD following an unannounced inspection by the Quality Care Commission (CQC)

The extensive report highlights that Ritson Lodge is promoting a positive culture where staff felt listened to, valued and supported by the management team with one staff member saying, “The service is well run, the Manager is there for the residents and staff, you only have to knock on the door….the Manager comes and helps us – they are hands on!”

The report found that residents were treated with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect with one adding, “It is very safe and there are always people about. I am very happy!"

Siobhan Fennell, General Manager at Ritson Lodge said: “We are absolutely thrilled that our home has achieved a ‘Good’ rating following the CQC’s most recent inspection. It is fantastic to have the hard work and dedication of everyone here recognised. It really has been overwhelming with all of the positive feedback and reviews we are receiving of late and this glowing report to kick start 2023 is the best present we could possibly wish for!”

Charitable Foundation Cheque Presentation to the Restoration Trust

We were delighted to spread some goodwill cheer here at Ritson Lodge by presenting a cheque from the Barchester Charitable Foundation for £255 to The Restoration Trust.

The charity is based in Cromer, Norfolk and engages people who are supported by mental health services and voluntary agencies with heritage and creative projects.

Emily Cannell - Heritage Link Worker at the charity who was presented with the cheque said, “The grant awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation will enable the charity to address the barrier by hiring a Minibus to take people to heritage sites locally and further afield. The project aims to demonstrate the potential of local heritage in contributing to meeting the wellbeing needs of local people and we are extremely grateful to Ritson Lodge and the Charitable Foundation for this tremendous support.”

Siobhan Fennell General Manager at Ritson Lodge added, “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities and can fully appreciate how hard it is for lots of people right now including those effected by mental health which it is why it is so important to support charities such as The Restoration Trust and the fantastic work that they do!”
