Activities at Raleigh Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kirstie Cobb

Activities Lead

I joined Barchester as a carer in 2019, and quickly realised I had a passion for helping people live their best lives. In June 2022 after a move to Exmouth, I joined the team Raleigh Manor as a carer and enjoyed helping with the activities. When the role of Activities Coordinator became available, I jumped at the chance to combine my care background with my desire to truly enrich the lives of the residents in my care.

Otterton Mill visit

Another example of how we tailor our Life Enrichment Program around each resident. Recently our Activities Coordinator, Sharon, found out one of our residents used to work in a Mill, this prompted an afternoon visit to Otterton Mill, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! It also brought back fond memories for our resident and she was able to reminisce about her time working in the Mill. The welcome we received was fantastic and they even sent some home made scones away with our residents and flour for our chef to make some for everyone! They were truly scrumptious!

Beside the Seaside

With two beautiful beaches on our doorstep, we like to try and make the most of them and visit frequently. We took our residents on our minibus down to Budleigh Salterton; they enjoyed a stroll along the sea front and a lovely hot chocolate!

Wine Tasting

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of wine tasting recently, where they had a chance to taste various wines from around the world and judge them. It has been one of the most popular activities we’ve done.

Dog Walking

Residents love furry friends visiting and jumped at the chance of taking ‘Bailey’, who belongs to our Activities Coordinator, Sharon, for a walk in the local community. It’s great to be able to give our residents these opportunities.

Raleigh

Raleigh Manor had a visit from a local band ‘Blast from The Past’. The afternoon was well-received by everyone; staff and residents got their dancing shoes on and enjoyed singing along to some well-known songs.

Feeling Puzzled

Residents enjoy a quiet afternoon in the lounge with a puzzle. We will always have one on the go somewhere in our home for residents or staff to do on their own or together as a team!
