Activities at Paternoster House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Paternoster House Care Home

Music and Movement
Our residents love music, movement and letting themselves go!
Anastasia Cole from Music for Health always brings the magic with her interactive workshops. We get to sing and dance together, play music instruments and above all have a good laugh together whilst keeping fit.

Parachute Practice
Did you know that we have accessible and beautifully landscaped gardens? We love spending time in our garden, it is an environment where our residents and their families can sit, relax and enjoy a variety of exciting activities. This week our residents decided to do a little light exercise outside with the parachute! Who doesn’t enjoy a bit of fun in the sun?

Day Trip to Leigh-on-Sea
Our day trip to Leigh-on-Sea was fabulous fun. Paternoster House resident; Barry wanted to revisit Leigh-on-Sea as it holds so many happy memories of he and his wife, family and friends holidaying their over the past 75 years!
Barry hasn’t been back to his favourite seaside location for 4-years, but today Tuesday 6th August the homes’ activities team made that Dream Come true. Barry was so excited to join fellow residents on the trip and couldn’t wait to showcase the delights of Osborne Bros Café on the High Street where he ordered the Seafood Platter alongside crab rolls and oysters all washed down with a pink of their finest bitter!
Our day tripping ladies opted for a nice coffee at the local pub Ye Olde Smack-Inn before taking in the sights and pursuing the souvenir shops. It was sweet rock lollies for Dot and Martha, then we took a short journey to Southend to purchase several tubs of candy floss; one for Barry’s wife and the others to share with their fellow residents who didn’t make the trip.

White Water Rafting Day Trip
Our happy band of day-tripping residents may not have qualified for the Paris Olympics but don't they look the part on their visit to Lee Valley White Water Centre to enjoy some summer sun, tea and cake whilst watching others master the craft.

Trip to Garden Centre
Friday's Fun time was a trip to Springtime Nurseries Crews Hill where are residents spent time picking different packets of seeds for gardening club. They had a great time looking around the nursery displays before settling down for a lovely cup of tea and good chat.

Local Firefighter Visit
On Friday the wonderful firefighters from Waltham Abbey Fire Station joined our residents and staff for the weekly Coffee Morning. These amazing emergency service personnel spent almost an hour chatting, and telling our residents various stories.
Having the fire engine parked outside was a real treat, thankfully the only emergency we might of had that morning was the threat of running out of biscuits and sweet treats!
Everyone at Paternoster House would like to send a massive THANK YOU to our friendly local firefighters. We're so pleased you visited and are here to keep us all protected.
