Activities at Paternoster House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Paternoster House Care Home

Crafty Clay Modelling
Last week’s Arts & Crafts session saw our residents get crafty with clay. Using their imagination to turn a hand full of modelling clay into a masterpiece, from ornate flowers to personalised pots.
Our creative group said they enjoyed the texture of the clay between their fingers and are looking forward to painting, and putting the finishing touches to their artworks once fully dried.

Knit one, purl one!
There's something inherently calming about the repetitive motion of knitting needles clicking together and wool gliding through your fingers.
Our residents love getting together for a good old 'knit & natter'. As they concentrated on not dropping a stitch and took time to share their techniques with our carers, the relaxing effect of knitting and croquet was clear to see.

Lunch on The London Eye
his week our residents enjoyed a day out in London where they experienced an unparalleled 360-degree view of the capitol city on the The Official London Eye - the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel at 135m (443ft) high!
Our lovely ladies beamed with pride as they looked over some of London’s most spectacular landmarks including; Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral. It was such an enjoyable day, sitting there listening to the ladies as they eat lunch in their pod chatting away about their favourite memories of London.

Pony Power
The amazing Performing Pets stopped into visit us this today with a miniature pony. Our residents get so much comfort and happiness from seeing the animals, and it's not every day you get to pet a Miniature American Pony from the comfort of your living room!
One of the many benefits of Pet Therapy for Seniors is increased interaction, which contributes to a healthy mind and overall wellbeing.

Delicious First Harvest
Our residents are able to enjoy fine dining and themed meals on a regular basis at Paternoster House and when they've grown the produce themselves from seeds the meal tastes even better!
Chef prepared and served their first crop of freshly picked carrots; roasted and drizzled in honey...they looked and tasted delicious!
Our Gardening Club are continuing to tend the vegetable patches/raised beds checking daily on what other delicacies' are ready to harvest.

Loving the 'Ukulele'
Yesterday we were thoroughly entertained by the West Essex Ukulele Band, Vera one of our residents loves it when they perform as her daughter; Elaine is one of the many talented band members.
We all had a good sing and shake along, thank you so much Elaine for coming in to brighten our day!
