Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Fresh Flower Arranging

This week our ladies enjoyed some flower arranging. Where they created their own design from a choice of different types & colours

Flower arranging provides a soothing and calming experience. The gentle act of selecting, cutting, and arranging blooms can help reduce stress and anxiety, and the vibrant colours, textures, and fragrances of the flowers create a multisensory experience that encourages relaxation and mindfulness.

Summer BBQ and Open Day

What a fabulous day we had on the last day of August as we celebrated the end of summer with our annual BBQ and had the pleasure of showing many of the local community around our beautiful home.

It was certainly a busy one, with residents, friends, family and staff members joining together for fun and games. We enjoyed a good old song-a-long courtesy of the charismatic Dennis - One Man Stand it was lovely to see all the generations dancing together.

Chef and the hospitality team cooked up an amazing array of BBQ meats with selection of salads and tasty sides. Our General Manager, Corina took the opportunity to present our Deputy Manager, Anu Kassis with her 15 year long-service award, giving thanks for her continued dedication and loyalty Paternoster House, and the wider Barchester family.

We're looking forward to getting together once again at our next Open Day on Saturday 2nd November, keep an eye out for the posters and confirmation of the planned entertainment for the day.

Boogie with David Brierley

One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is live musical entertainment and David Brierley never disappoints, he always manages to get our residents and guests up dancing and singing.

Resident involvement in choosing genres along with feedback after each performance means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.
