Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Delicious First Harvest

Our residents are able to enjoy fine dining and themed meals on a regular basis at Paternoster House and when they've grown the produce themselves from seeds the meal tastes even better!

Chef prepared and served their first crop of freshly picked carrots; roasted and drizzled in honey...they looked and tasted delicious!

Our Gardening Club are continuing to tend the vegetable patches/raised beds checking daily on what other delicacies' are ready to harvest.

Loving the 'Ukulele'

Yesterday we were thoroughly entertained by the West Essex Ukulele Band, Vera one of our residents loves it when they perform as her daughter; Elaine is one of the many talented band members.

We all had a good sing and shake along, thank you so much Elaine for coming in to brighten our day!

Wonderful Waltham Abbey

Earlier this week we took a small group of residents to explore the historic Waltham Abbey Church and Gardens. Steeped in history, the church’s origins date back to the early 11th century and is said to be the final resting place of King Harold II, the last Anglo-Saxon king of England!

Our residents were fascinated by the church's treasures, stained glass window depictions and they loved wandering around the grounds, visiting the cloister entry, Abbey gateway and the stone bridge over the Cornmill Stream. They enjoyed the peace and

tranquillity of the Rose Gardens, meeting new people (and pugs) and getting up close to the many ducks and majestic swans.

We all agreed we are very lucky to have such natural beauty on our door step. The coffee and cake in the Abbey's café was also a super treat that finished of the day trip perfectly.

Staying part of the local community is a priority at Paternoster House. We're welcoming new residents and would love to give you a tour of our beautifully refurbished home.

Learning Spanish!

At Paternoster House we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also developing new skills. On Monday we opened our minds to learning 'Spanish' courtesy of Speak Like A Native - Loughton and Surrounding Areas. Our residents found the session 'Me Gusta' like beans on toast and sailing.

Learning a new language at any age can be difficult but shouldn't stop us trying!
