Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Paternoster House Care Home

Barbie and Top Gun at the Cinema

When Paternoster residents couldn't decide between watching Top Gun Maverick and Barbie we watched both!  Our afternoon of film was so enjoyable and while Barbie was not what we expected, Top Gun offered everything we did expect!

Batman and Robin Visit!

Paternoster House had some very special visitors; Batman and Robin!  Batman and Robin are three month old piglets who loved a cuddle.  The even snuggled up on residents' beds.  We always look forward to the monthly Performing Pets visit and we loved the piglets’ visit (we really wanted to keep them!).

The Paternoster House Local!

Paternoster House’s local pub is the Queen’s Head and residents love nothing more than a stroll over for a cold beer, wine and traditional pub lunch.  Ellie and the team always make us so welcome.  The food is delicious and everyone always has a good chat over their lunch.

Making Wishes a Reality

Paternoster House’s Wishing Tree is such a wonderful way for us to spend time with individual residents and make dreams a reality.  Resident Lee’s family had “wished” for him to visit a local stable and what a perfect day it was with the sun shining.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Justine at Lower Lodge House in Upshire Waltham Abbey for making this happen.  You can see the interaction Lee had with all the horses in the photos.  As we were coming to the end of our visit, Lee could hear another horse, Figero, coming off the field and the team at the stables took the time and trouble to make sure he met Figero as well.

Hazel Attends Sorrento Wedding

Our lovely resident Hazel had one wish; to see her granddaughter Kim get married, and the team at Paternoster House made it happen.   With the help of technology we all enjoyed the wedding celebrations, along with staff, residents and their families.  Hazel was pampered and looked fabulous.  Waltham Abbey became Sorrento for the day and we toasted the happy couple, Kim and Rob wishing them health and happiness for the future.

Residents Meet Scooby the Minature Pony

The impact of pet therapy can never be underestimated and Paternoster House residents and staff always look forward to the monthly visit from Performing Pets.  Part of the excitement is not knowing who we will meet!  This time it was the gentle Scooby the miniature pony.  This adorable chap happily walked all around the home, resting his head on residents’ laps and bringing smiles all round.
