Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Capturing Thoughtful Moments

Tuesday became 'Thoughtful Moments' day whereby we spent time with our residents to recall their favourite memories; capture how they felt on the day and find an image of the moment, place or person to create a keepsake.

Reminisce can help connect someone to their past and reaffirm their feelings of being important by reflecting on their accomplishments. Our residents loved telling the activities team all about each memorable moment.

Crafting Dream Catchers

Today on the Parklands community we crafted our own dream catchers. Thought to protect sleepers, Native Americans believed that at night the air was filled with dreams and hanging a catcher over their beds would catch any bad ones.

Our residents simply think they look beautiful and blowing in the breeze they are a peaceful decorative addition to their rooms.

Eyes Down Everyone

Clickety-Click Eyes down Everybody!

Our residents love a spot of prize BINGO, the winners basket of goodies is bountiful so it's all to play for. Winning aside, concentrating on marking your ticket and listening to the numbers being called help with motor skills and hand-eye coordination... albeit in a very fun way.

Cheers to Friendships

Cheers! Friday is trip to the local day for a pint. Residents and good friends Michael and Barry love getting together at McMullen's Brewing & Pubs The Queen's Head for a catch up on the week's events.

Our residents have been enjoying the summer sun with afternoon tea on the terrace just outside Woodlands garden. The ladies loved the pink party vibe.

Mindfulness Monday

A morning of 'Mindful Colouring' can help focus the mind, improve concentration and calms moods. The sense of achievement our residents enjoy is clear as they choose the different colours to use, and relax into carefully completing each picture.
