Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Day Trip to Southend Seaside

It's a lovely day to be beside the seaside!

Our residents had a wonderful day in good old sunny Southend-on-Sea!  They took a trip down memory lane to family holidays  spending their pennies in the arcades, and going to Peter Pan adventure island to try their luck on hook-a-duck and, we couldn’t leave without stopping by the pub and having a drink along the sea front.

Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar. This afternoon a few of our Gentlemen wanted to go to our local; Queens Head - Waltham Abbey.

They all enjoyed reminiscing and having a laugh with the activities team.

Strawberries and Cream Anyone?

Today we worked as a team to set up our Wimbledon themed display for the reception area. Some of our residents got stuck in creating hand-made tennis balls and rackets.

They were given the materials and had a little help with the cutting but the rest was left to them. In between their arts and crafts activity, they had a little game of batting the balloon to each other... Wimbledon players watch out!

All before sitting down with Strawberries and cream and a glass or two of Pimm’s to watch the tennis.

Here’s just a few pictures of our successful Summer Fete at Paternoster house yesterday, Saturday 5th July.

Everyone had a fabulous time dancing, enjoying our BBQ, drinking, having a look around the stalls and buying items from the stall holders.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended, also to all the lovely stall holders from our local community and Colin & his rock n roll friends musical entertainer for all your support and hard work for making it a successful day.

What a beautiful day for a trip out to the amazing Hitchin Lavender, with is fields fresh lavender for our residents to meander around. The sun shone making it just the perfect day!

We also stopped off for a well deserved drink at the Plume and Feathers pub in Hitchin, where we even met some chickens before we heading back home to share across the Paternoster communities the luscious lavender we'd collected.
