Activities at Oaklands Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Up, up and away!

What better way to celebrate an 100th Birthday than to take a trip to the base and meet the crew of the East Anglian Air Ambulance! The special treat was arranged by Barbara McGee of the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Dan Amis, our Home Services Advisor here at Oaklands Care Home to celebrate Dr Cynthia Phillips's 100th year. Cynthia and her daughter Helen thoroughly enjoyed the day exploring the base and meeting the crew. Dr Cynthia said, "It was fascinating to see how far things have come and we both had an incredible day. I will never forget this visit!"

Chicks hatch at Oaklands

There was a lot of egg-citement at Hilton Park as 9 chicks hatched throughout the week during the run up to our Easter celebrations.

Residents were able to pet and feed the chicks as they found their footing in their new home. The new additions were also visited by students from the Bottisham Primary School and Cartlodge Playgroup who stopped by to meet our residents and the new arrivals!

General Manager Cecilia Thomson said: “It was an eggs-cellent day when the eggs finally hatched and it was great to have the children come to visit us; our residents loved every minute! To receive thank you letters from the children too was extremely kind and hugely appreciated by all of the team and residents here at Oaklands Care Home."

Everyone loved the tasty Pastries too! What better way to say thank you to all those special ladies for everything that they do!

Congratulations Michael!

Smoothies! Mmmmmm!

To celebrate Nutrition and Hydration Week residents at Oaklands enjoyed a variety of different tasty healthy smoothies.

Some were loved and some tasted like Cold Soup! However, not a drop was left and our residents had lots of fun. Needless to say, some of the feedback had everyone in hysterics!

Now, the challenge is on to make our own recipes and see what creations our Smoothie connoisseurs come up with!

Generations come togther at regular craft workshop

What better way to help young people learn about sewing and knitting than to learn from the best?!?

Our Activities Team Janice and Anna accompanied some of Hilton Park's most avid knitters to Swaffham Prior School for a craft workshop and tutorial.

Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and the pupils and our residents cannot wait to visit again next week; a truly special weekly event for everyone!
