Activities at Oaklands Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

The Magic Table

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!

You can read more about it on this page.

Pygmy Goats and Chicks visit Oaklands

Oaklands residents enjoyed the visit from the Pygmy Goats and baby Chicks. In fact, it was difficult to separate some of the animals who were so contented in the laps and arms of our residents. They certainly had the natural touch!

A special thanks to all our amazing team this International Nurses' Day

International Nurses’ Day provides the perfect opportunity to show special recognition to the nurses who make a real difference to the lives of those in their care. At Oaklands Care Home to celebrate this special day we held a Nurses' Quiz and the winning duo Jane and Gabby were presented with some yummy Chocolates and Prosecco by our General Manager Cecilia Thomson. After which we had a staff celebration for Lesley who was voted Employee of the Month. The delicious medical inspired Cupcakes did not stay around for long as the whole team celebrated International Nurse's Day together.

Easter Egg Hunt and Magic Show

Over 30 children from local schools, nurseries and playgroups joined our residents and their families in our beautiful gardens for the Oakland's Easter Egg Hunt. It was one of the warmest days of the year and we are pleased to report that every delicious chocolate egg was found!  The afternoon was topped off by a spectacular Magic Show which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended this exceedingly popular annual event at Oaklands Care Home.

Up, up and away!

What better way to celebrate an 100th Birthday than to take a trip to the base and meet the crew of the East Anglian Air Ambulance! The special treat was arranged by Barbara McGee of the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Dan Amis, our Home Services Advisor here at Oaklands Care Home to celebrate Dr Cynthia Phillips's 100th year. Cynthia and her daughter Helen thoroughly enjoyed the day exploring the base and meeting the crew. Dr Cynthia said, "It was fascinating to see how far things have come and we both had an incredible day. I will never forget this visit!"
