Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oak Grange Care Home

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Residents at Oak Grange were so impressed with the local pumpkin people in our surrounding villages when we went for a drive around that we decided to make our own folk to join us.

We created Bernard and Bernadette from spare clothes, newspaper, pumpkins and paint. They are now sat happily outside, welcoming visitors, and offering them some delicious chocolates.

International Day of Older Persons

International Day of Older Persons

Local children from St Oswald's Primary School were invited to join us for dominoes, pool, cats cradle, old maid, noughts and crosses, and to fly model aeroplanes. We also enjoyed some afternoon tea together. As you can see, we all had a really lovely afternoon together, sharing games that everyone could play.

Harvest Festival

Residents and relatives enjoyed a Harvest Festival and communion service, which was conducted by our local vicar, the Rev. Sue Giles.

Harvest Festival is an annual celebration to mark the end of the main harvest season and a time to give thanks for the crops that have been grown.

100th Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated a big birthday at Oak Grange recently; resident, John, turned 100 and enjoyed his birthday bash with friends, relatives, staff members and fellow residents.

He received over 100 cards and was very moved to receive one from the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars, who he served with during the Second World War and, of course, a card from the Queen, as well as a telegram from the House of Commons.

John was born 25 days before the end of World War One, so he has been alive in two World Wars.

In his professional life, his career culminated in his appointment as Secretary of the Merseyside and North Wales Electricity Board, based in Chester.

He has really enjoyed living at Oak grange, where he is a member of our choir, and he performed in the Chester Cathedral last year. He still actively gardens from his wheelchair, and loves going on trips, especially to choose plants. He is very much loved by all the residents, staff and friends and families who visit.

Chester Storyhouse

We visited the Storyhouse in Chester during Older Persons Week, where we enjoyed afternoon tea in the café and met a lovely lady who shared her beautiful baby with us, much to our delight.
