Activities at Mount House and Severn View

Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.

Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Roald Dahl Day

Roald Dahl Day

Residents at the Mount House celebrated Roald Dahl Day by watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with popcorn and chocolate, and we even made own chocolate milkshakes and bunting for the home. Yummy!

Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall

The residents enjoyed the beautiful scenic drive to the waterfall, taking in their soundings. The residents saw lots of pretty villages and cottages along the route ‘how wonderful ‘ was a comment one resident made. The waterfall itself was picturesque with the calming sounds of the waterfall and streams surrounding it, the place truly was peaceful. The residents enjoyed a lunch of fishcake and chips in their own individual take away boxes which were purchased from one the quaint villages. All of the residents were delighted at being able to visit such a lovely place and wanted to know when they could return.

Marshmallow and chocolate dipping

Marshmallow and chocolate dipping

The residents have recently enjoyed a chocolate dipping afternoon with tasty treats such as marshmallows and fruits. The residents couldn’t wait to get stuck in, one resident said how fun it was and they all laughed at how they got chocolate everywhere. A lovely afternoon was had by all.

Our new garden room

Our new garden room

We at the Mount House now have a beautiful garden room so that our residents and their families can enjoy the wonderful grounds that surrounds the home. There is a cosy seating area to enjoy cups of tea with soothing music playing quietly in the background. The garden room allows the residents to continue enjoying the garden and the wildlife all year round and especially when the weather is not at its best.

Dan the handy man surprises the residents!

Dan the handy man surprises the residents!

We were all shocked when our own handyman Dan picked up a guitar and began a one-man show for our residents! The guitar belongs to one of our residents, who asks him every day to play a song for us and he didn’t disappoint. One of our other residents demanded an encore, as he played ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and other well known hits. He has already agreed to put on another show for us, we can’t wait Dan!

Smoothie Saturday

Smoothie Saturday

Our brand new ‘Smoothie Saturday’ activity was a massive hit! At least a dozen residents came to try out the activity we had a selection of different fruits for the residents to customize their smoothies to their own tastes. We provided the residents with bananas, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, apples, raspberries, milk and yogurt. One of the residents had three full glasses of her smoothie, she said “It’s beautiful, I can taste all of the flavours” they are all looking forward to next weekend and have already invited some of their family members to come and taste their handmade smoothies.
