Activities at Mount House and Severn View
Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.
Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Hello I am Joyce the Activities Coordinator. I am new to the care sector having worked as a florist with my own business and I am loving this change of direction. I am committed to ensuring the residents have a varied activities programme as well celebrating events. I am following the Barchester Life Enrichment Programme of working with mind, body and soul. I do also love to dance with the residents when we have an entertainer in!

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mount House and Severn View
Sadie Beth Shines
Residents were over the moon when they found out we had a new singer coming in to entertain us. Sadie Beth wowed us with her amazing voice, singing songs from all different years and genres.
Christmas Fete
This year we at The Mount we combined our Christmas Fete with Christmas Jumper day, where we raised £70 for both MS Society and Save the Children. We started the afternoon off selling raffle tickets, which was followed by Mince Pies, Cakes and Mulled Wine finally all the staff sang Carole’s with our residents. All the residents said they had such a lovely time, and they were so happy to take part in our fundraising afternoon.
Christmas Cake Competition
The Mount always takes part in Barchester's annual Christmas Cake Competition. Here is our submission from this year made and decorated by Head Chef, Steffi Pritchard. Staff and residents loved this year’s entry. Well done Steffi!
Christmas Tree Decorating
Residents and Staff thoroughly enjoyed putting up our decorations this year. Residents shared their stories of what they used to do at Christmas time, and how times haven’t really changed in that aspect.
Raffle Competition
Congratulations to Becci Lewis, our Admin Assistant, who won the raffle prize. We held a raffle in order to raise money for both Alzheimer’s society and Oswestry Preschool Refurbishment.
Christmas Cake Competition
The Mount House & Severn View entered Barchester's 2018 Christmas Cake Competition. This beautiful creation was made by Head Chef, Steffi Pritchard.
