Meet our Activities Coordinator, Jodie Driver
I originally joined the team in 2016 as a Carer & Activities Assistant, and I am now the Activities Coordinator.
I have previous experience within the care sector, and I endeavour to provide a broad-ranging activities programme for those we support, which will be based primarily around the wants and needs of residents and include lots of musical entertainment, holistic therapies and social events within the home, as well as out in the local community.
My days are spent making sure that the residents in the home have an interesting and active social programme to enjoy each day. Residents' individual preferences are always considered, and I welcome feedback from loved ones too.
Activities at Mount House and Severn View
Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.
Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.
Life at Mount House and Severn View
The Vaccine Arrives
All staff and most residents have received their first COVID-19 vaccine. The staff were emotional and said they felt “privileged” to receive the vaccine and help to protect the ones we care for.
Every Wednesday, we host a Craft Club. The craft theme is chosen by our residents; most recently, it was to create and decorate their own gift tags for presents!
Some of our residents spent the afternoon decorating our beautiful homemade Christmas cake which will be enjoyed on Christmas Eve! The cake was covered in fondant icing and our residents added the finishing touches!

Residents have focused on baking during the afternoons recently. From baking a fruit sponge to chocolate cornflake cakes, they have thoroughly enjoyed preparing these delicious treats.
The Salon Experience
Our salon is open to all of our wonderful residents, whether it be for a shampoo and set, a Gentleman’s shave or an afternoon of pampering, including a manicure and a hand massage.
Maxine Milward, Carer, spent all day looking after our ladies and gents by ensuring that they felt pampered and rested and brought some lovely sensory items for our salon. Thank you Maxine.
