Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Moors Manor Care Home

Easter Celebrations

Moors Manor staff and residents got ready for Easter by joining a virtual afternoon of chocolate-fuelled fun, along with the staff and residents at over seventy Barchester care homes across the south of England, Jersey and the Isle of Wight.

Our Head Chef has been extremely creative and entered a Barchester Easter Cake Competition.

Cards of Love

Moors Manor received a lovely visit from Mr Bagwell, Head Teacher and Mr Graves, Deputy Head Teacher delivering handmade cards and letters from children at Ferndown First School and Parley First school.

The children wrote 100 letters to care home residents in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore, and their teachers rode over 100km whilst delivering them.

Miss Brown, from Parley First school has sewn, crocheted and knitted 100 hearts along with origami hearts from pupils at Ferndown First, which were delivered with the letters and cards.

We have all enjoyed reading the letters and beautiful cards at Moors Manor and were very impressed with the art work the children included.

Visiting Suite Now Open

As the temperature drops outside, we are so pleased to have our cosy visiting suite at Moors Manor.

Visitors have direct access from the car park and can join their loved one for tea and cake in a safe and secure way.

It is purpose-built with an intercom system so residents can clearly communicate and engage in conversation whilst being able to see their friends and family through a Perspex screen fitted for safety.

As a luxury new build home our occupancy will steadily grow, meaning our capacity of residents allow daily visits for loved residents, we have no rules about nominated person in our visiting suite so our residents can enjoy seeing all of their family and friends any day of the week.

Moors Manor is Now Open

We are thrilled to announce we have officially opened our doors, welcoming the first residents into our stunning new home!

Our friendly team will provide bespoke residential, dementia and respite care in beautiful surroundings, with delicious home-cooked meals prepared by talented chefs, a café for socialising and enjoying freshly baked treats and a choice of daily life-enrichments activities to add joy and laughter to each day. We are delighted our home is now open; our residents are at the heart of everything we do at Moors Manor, and we look forward to welcoming them and delivering best-in-sector personalised care.”

We take pride in really getting to know each of our residents to provide tailored care and support, ensuring dignity and choice in every aspect of daily life. At Moors Manor we will celebrate life and ensure there is plenty on offer for all tastes and abilities.

The Magic Table

Moors Manor is getting ready to welcome residents in February by installing the Tovertafel 'Magic Table’ as a way to improve residents’ quality of life.

Created in the Netherlands, the Tovertafel uses interactive games to connect people in the mid-to-late stages of dementia with each other, their family members and friends, all the while stimulating movement. Using interactive light projections, the Tovertafel, which can be played independently or as a group, invites participants to pop bubbles, sweep leaves or interact playfully with fish. Another game generates a series of well-known sayings and phrases, which often sparks discussion and brings back memories. Games are rich in colour, movement and detail, and allows people of all ages to play in a safe and comfortable environment.

We’re excited to bring a touch of magic to the residents at our home. It will make a big difference for residents who might not be able to join in conversations, or are prone to becoming agitated by helping to connect residents with the home and with each other, and it’s fun for the young and the young at heart.

Our First Christmas

The team have been busy decorating the marketing suite for the festive season. Our beautiful tree in our resident lounge on the ground floor was decorated by Scott, our Head of Maintenance, and Charlotte, our Home Services Advisor.

Those visiting the home whilst looking for care for themselves or their loved ones have been treated to mince pies in front of the fire.
