Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

The Ashley Bells perform in the home

We had the wonderful "Ashley Bells" from the Ashley Heath Women's Institute group come into the home for a carol concert. They performed a selection of Christmas songs and carols for residents, family members and our local community to join in with.

Everyone also enjoyed our famous mince pies and mulled wine prepared by our brilliant kitchen team. A wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by everyone.

Minibus festive outing to Haskins Garden Centre

Residents enjoyed a minibus outing to Haskins Garden Centre to look at the wonderful Christmas displays and admire the hard work that has gone into decorating the rather large Christmas Trees they had on display.

Rita, Marianne and Pat then finished off the trip with a bit of tea and cake. A lovely afternoon was enjoyed by them all.

Born to Sing Male Vocal Choir

We had the wonderful Born to Sing Male Vocal Choir perform in the home for us and it is always so lovely to have them performing here in the home.

They performed a selection of songs from the musicals, hymns to Christmas carols which had everyone singing along and some even had us shedding a little tear as we were so moved by their performance.

We can't wait to have Born to Sing come back and perform for us again.

Love to Move festive class

We had the lovely Kate from Love to Move for her festive exercise class with us this week. As you can see by the photos lots of laughter was taking place while also doing a bit of exercise too.

We look forward to Kate coming back in the New Year when we will all be ready to burn off those festive calories that were enjoyed.

Christmas Carol Sing-Along

We were joined by the Ringwood Twinning Association and St Michaels Church Choir from Verwood for a Carol Sing-Along in the home.

It was a wonderful afternoon with everyone singing to the many carols that were performed such as O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night and many more.

The big hit of the afternoon was the delicious homemade mince pies that our fabulous dining team had made for everyone to enjoy with a nice glass of mulled wine too.

Christmas Carols really do bring so much joy and happiness and everyone here at Moors Manor is fully into the festive spirit.

Truffle making with Kitchen Assistant Jo

To carry on with the countdown to Christmas we thought we would do a bit of baking as it is the season when calories don't count! Residents Veena, Val, Rita and Lynda all enjoyed making truffles with kitchen assistant Jo. They had a couple of different flavours of mix to make the truffle with an assortment of toppings to finish them off. Residents, staff and their families all got to try them and they were rather delicious.
