Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Helpful Hounds Visit

We welcomed Peter from Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs to the home to talk to our residents about the wonderful work their dogs do, Raffi also came along to say hello to all our residents, Raffi was a big hit in the home with everyone and it was great to hear from Peter. We are completing a sponsored walk to raise money for this wonderful charity.

British Pie Week

As a twist on it being National Pie week this week, we held a quiz afternoon. The losing team's captain then received a pie in the face from the winning team's captain. However the residents thought it only fair that our chef participated as well!

Cornish Day

As it was Cornish Pasty week this week we celebrated with a day around the Cornish County. Residents made their own pasties for supper after a demo from our Head Chef and we also had a traditional Cornish cream tea.

Pancake Day and St Davids Day

We celebrated pancake day in the dining room with a variety of toppings to try on our freshly cooked pancakes - the top choice was the traditionally lemon and sugar of course. We also celebrated St David's Day today, we discussed some facts about the patron Saint of Wales and decorated the home with Daffodils. We also have a sea of daffodils just flowering at the front of the home which was perfect for today.

Giant Scrabble

We welcomed Steve to the home with his giant scrabble board, we all tested our brains coming up with words to try and win.  A rematch is booked in for next month!

Birthday Celebrations

Friday 18th February saw us host our 1st birthday celebrations.
