Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Craft with Lexy

We always like to listen to what our residents like to do in the home and quite a few said they would like to create craft items. We were able to find a local company called Made By Me Craft Parties which is run by Lexy. Lexy then created a lovely afternoon for our residents to start thinking about a certain time of year coming up very soon (CHRISTMAS) and were making items that can be used to decorate the home.

There was lots of concentration and also smiles as when they then saw the finished design were all very proud with what they had made. We look forward to Lexy coming again next month and to see what she has in store for our residents to make.

Art club in the garden

Residents have been enjoying their art club and have been finding it very peaceful and relaxing to do. We have a wide variety of different activities that take place in the home but to do something very thoughtful and relaxing, attracts are ladies in the home to get involved with. It was also another glorious sunny day so we are making the most of our lovely garden while we can.

Love to Move class with Katie

We had Katie from Love to Move Dorset here for her fun and enjoyable seated exercise class. Residents all enjoyed getting their hand eye coordination going along to the music, and had lots of fun keeping themselves moving.

We do enjoy our classes with Katie who has been coming to the home for a long time and look forward to her next class very soon.

Games fun in the garden

When the sun is shining what better way to enjoy it than sitting in the garden with friends and play a game or two together. Residents made a special request to play the old fashioned game of noughts and crosses and what fun they had.

Steve Linn entertains

We had the very talented Steve Linn come in to the home to entertain everyone and he certainly did just that! Residents and staff were all dancing, singing and having a wonderful time. Here are just a few of the photos that were taken but we certainly had the party going here at Moors Manor!!

We look forward to Steve coming in again very soon.

Minibus outing to Castlepoint Shopping Park

Residents enjoy their outings out on our minibus and this week it was a visit to Castlepoint Shopping Park for a shopping trip with Rita, June, Lynda and Kathy. The ladies enjoyed having a look around the shops and buying the items they wanted, June even had a little pamper when in Boots. We then finished off the outing with a cup of tea and cake at Marks and Spencer. Everyone all enjoyed being out together and look forward to doing this again soon.
