Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

Denise Ashby

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Denise and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Melbourn Springs. I joined Barchester in 2022 and always strive to support and care for all of our residents in a way that best suits each individual.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I hold very close to my heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them.

A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Mini Bus as we create new, special memories together at Melbourn Springs.

Melbourn W.I Zoom talk

Our Home Services Advisor Dan was invited to talk to the Melbourn After Eights W.I on Zoom - taking them on a journey of life onboard Cruise Ships and into the world of hairdressing too!

Dan was also joined by resident Audrey (who incidentally was the President of Cottered W.I) and it was a very special moment - for it has been over 15 years since Audrey has attended a W.I meeting!!! Albeit “it was very different back then but I have had a marvellous evening and really can’t thank you enough. And it was so lovely to meet all the other ladies too!”

Happy Birthday Audrey!

Our amazing resident Audrey celebrated her 93rd birthday with a special birthday lunch and delicious Chocolate Birthday Cake expertly prepared by our Hospitality Team.

Audrey raised a glass of Apple Juice (even though it looks like a triple Whisky in the photo) to say cheers and thank everyone for making her day so very special – in a week that even included an interview with BBC Look East!

Audrey received numerous cards, calls, flowers, gifts and visits from her family in our home Visiting Suite - she truly is a very popular lady and hugely thought of by many in the local community too!

Happy Birthday Audrey from all of the team at Melbourn Springs!

Collaboration with Imperial War Museum

Melbourn Springs has been selected to take part in a collaborative, innovative, new project alongside the Imperial War Museum to pilot a series of tailored talks, discussions and quizzes which are delivered over Zoom.

Our residents are thoroughly enjoying their Friday afternoon sessions and we are all are very grateful to the IWM for choosing our home to be a part of the project - as featured in the Royston Crow: https://lnkd.in/dwskAVN

Remembrance Day

The whole home team at Melbourn Springs joined our residents on Remembrance Day to observe the two minute silence and watch the service from Westminster Abbey – as we all remembered and gave thanks to those brave servicemen and women who so humbly gave their lives so that we may live in peace.
