Activities at Marnel Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

We both joined Marnel a while ago and we are very excited to be part of such a proactive and dedicated team. There are lots of ideas and innovations, all to enhance quality of life of our residents. Every day is different and to understand the needs of our residents, building relationship with them and keeping in touch with their families and friends, is the most important and rewarding job we could have wish for.

Life at Marnel Lodge Care Home

Macmillan Coffee Morning

On 25th September, we have hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning to support people living with cancer. Our home made just over £120. We are extremely proud of being helpful to others in need.

Time on Our Hands

Time on Our Hands

Resident ambassadors at Marnel Lodge, Peter Tiller and Baraba Liddle, buried a time capsule in the front garden, to be opened in 50 years’ time.

Residents, staff and guests from the community filled the time capsule with thoughtful memorabilia to remind the future uncoverers of 2019. This included personal items of the residents, such as letters from their relatives, our latest CQC report, where were were rated ‘Good’ in all areas, a memory stick with a picture of the home as it stands now, as well as pictures of the staff and the residents.

It was a very special day for everyone at Marnel Lodge.

The Magic Table

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, promoting movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!

You can read more about it on this page.

The British Legion

The British Legion

The British Legion Marching Band came to visit us on a sunny Sunday morning. Residents loved seeing them perform!

The Prince's Trust

The Prince's Trust

The Prince's Trust came to visit Marnel Lodge recently. They made Easter cards with the residents and, afterwards, we all had homemade tea and cakes and did a quiz together. The winners won Easter eggs.

The Trust will be returning in July for a cream tea with residents in our lovely garden.

Emergency Services Visit

We decided that it would be nice to our appreciation of our local ambulance service by taking homemade cakes to them. We were welcomed warmly by the crew, and residents have decided to make cakes for them again in May.
