Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Courtney Doncaster

Activities Coordinator

My name is Courtney and I am proud to be the Activities Coordinator for Maple Leaf Lodge.

I have worked at Maple Leaf since 2020 and I started as a night carer before taking the opportunity  to lead the activities team. My team and I ensure that the residents enjoy a range of fun and varied activities from outings and external performers to animal therapy and gardening.

We are always open to new ideas so please join us for a chat at any time.

Life at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

International Mens Day

Residents Peter and Brian spent the afternoon talking all things politics: why men are useful and about their time in the Army. The afternoon went down well, especially when you have a nice cold beer to drink.

,

Remembrance Day

Residents at Maple Leaf painted poppies using different materials to display at the reception for people to pay their respect if they wished to, they could also buy poppies to support the Royal British Legion.

Resident, Mary had knitted poppies and raised £30. The day was marked with a two minutes silence at 11am and watching the service.

,

Halloween Party

Residents at Maple Leaf had a spooky Halloween party with sweet treats and slimy tricks. The day was filled with fun and laughter by all.

The 'best dressed' award went to Jill, the Hostess, and 'best dressed' award for residents went to Ron for his Dracula costume.

There were many games being played, including, 'pin the nose on the pumpkin', pumpkin carving, 'what’s in the witch?', and monster bowling.

,

Oktoberfest

Maple Leaf residents held their very own beer festival in the bar. The residents had lots of beers to sample from all around the world. They enjoyed traditional German music and tried to learn a bit of German.

National Card Making Day

Residents enjoyed making some bespoke cards in honour of National Card Making Day.

Resident, Eileen, makes her own cards all year rounds, and sends them to local charity shop for them to sell on her behalf.

Residents at Maple Leaf Lodge started to think about Christmas and made cards to send to their families.

,

Harvest Festival

Residents had lots of fun celebrating Harvest Festival here at Maple Lead Lodge.
