Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Blenheim Palace Winston Churchill Virtual Talk

Our residents were thrilled to join Antonia Keaney - Blenheim Palace’s Historian for an intriguing virtual talk on Winston Churchill.

The private resources of Blenheim Palace were drawn upon to afford very new and refreshing insights into this remarkable man. During the talk Antonia shared fascinating information about the breadth of talent, achievement and personality of the "Greatest Briton": soldier, politician, statesman, painter, writer, orator, family man - and bricklayer!

We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed learning more about UK’s former Prime Minister.

Remembrance Day Parade

Lydfords Care Home in East Hoathly commemorated Remembrance Day on Sunday 14th November, where they joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.

As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies, residents were thrilled to be able to watch the local bonfire societies Remembrance Day parade to commemorate the members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty.

Lydfords Home Services Advisor, Laura Tee, was honored to have been asked by East Hoathly Carnival Society to carry one of the fire poppy banners in the parade, each one signifying a local hero killed in the line of duty in the First and Second World Wars.

Hairdresser visits and trips out

At Lydfords we have a range of hairdressing options. We have our very own fully equipped in-house hair salon, in which residents can have their own hairdresser come to visit.

Alternatively, East Hoathly has a hair salon on the high street, just down the road from Lydfords, that some of our residents chose to visit for a spot of pampering outside of the home, we facilitate whichever option our residents prefer!
